SteamWorld Dig 2 will Release at physical retail with exclusive double-sided poster and reversible inlay on Switch and PS4.

Image & Form’s hit Switch eShop title SteamWorld Dig 2 is getting a retail release. Today, Rising Star Games announced that a physical version will be sold this spring in both North America and Europe.

Brjann Sigurgeirsson, CEO at Image & Form, said of today’s news:

“We’re totally humbled by the community’s reaction to SteamWorld Dig 2. This latest SteamWorld adventure is a milestone, and we’re naturally very proud of it. Many fans are now asking for a physical release, so it makes me very happy to be able to partner up with Rising Star Games for a boxed version. We’re also excited that additional exclusive items will be included as well!”

Great news! Now I will wait for the retail version. I'd love to know if there will ever be a compillation of SteamWorld Dig 1&2 and Heist. The games fit into a normal cartridge.

No mention of xbox anywhere?

My understanding, going by Yacht Club, is that the Xbox physical requirements are very different than the PS4 or Switch, which seemingly allow for some limited run releases. Yacht Club had tried to make a Shovel Knight XBO physical copy but I believe Microsoft wanted a higher print volume than YCG expected to sell, so they put it off until King Knight is done to renegotiate.

 

It's, I'd assume, similar for most attempts at Xbox limited print releases.
