Forums - Movies & TV - That new Cloverfield movie was sooo bad [Spoiler thread]

Fairly polarizing opinions here. I thought Cloverfield was decent. Haven't seen 10 Cloverfield Lane, but want to some day. Based off of this thread, and poking around the internet, I'm pretty worried about the infuriation potential this movie has. Seems risky.

The first one was awesome and a very good one with a full on rising tension through the whole movie.
Haven't watched the second cause it seems there was no monster
Third is bad like 'I don't understand anything and JJ 'Lost in plot' Abrams wil not tell you ' .

Seems JJ Abrams is trying to be the next Kubrik but he isn't.

Didn't even know the film existed until I read this thread. Sounds like my cup of tea I'm very forgiving of science fiction movies even those with cheesy dialogue and can still enjoy them.

Loved the first Cloverfield movie and quite liked the second, watchable at least.

I've watched most of it now and it really is awful. I don't mind awful films generally with scifi but it was just so poorly written and incredibly boring, boring I can't take. If it had cheesy dialogue, crap sets and poor effects I could forgive it but its just so boring and everytime I thought something more interesting was going to happen it just seemed to remain equally dull. The actors themselves seemed ok if they had something to work with but both story and direction were incredibly poor. To be honest I don't think the director had a lot to work with story wise. A very uninspired movie. I can't recommend it, even if its amazing in the last 10 minutes I haven't watched yet it's a terrible slog to get to that point. There is one clearly ridiculous bit in it which as stupid as it was, is actually the highlight of the movie. How they kept straight faces I don't know.
