MHW is the only system seller, and it came out late in the month, plus xbox is much cheaper so anybody buying a system for that game, would buy it on xbox. way bigger games in the west that are coming out exclusive on ps4, and MHW is not really a big system seller in the west. ps4 main problem is xbox being much cheaper, while both consoles are getting near there peak. also about the 10-20k numbers

That's still 1 big system seller for a core fanbase and a brand new game in the franchise. And boosts at this time in gen dont last ages, 1 week is almost all it will do so it doesn't change anything.

Also, there was even a collector edition.

ps4 did normal jan numbers, it only looks much better because of the 5 week period., thats what people don't get, its not about about switch beating ps4, it's about how much did they sell.

I know it hurts that Switch won yet another NPD over PS4, but don't fret too much, PS4 no doubt won Japan and WW by a huge margin for Jan and most likely Feb. You'll get to brag again soon, in due time my friend

well obviously it looks like i'm wrong so far about switch losing momentum , but there are way more people saying 6 -7 million in the US this year that don't get called out for it. when switch is just doing regular ps4 numbers in the US, except for december.

All of us who said amazon is switch biased have been proven right. It suggested the gap would be far bigger.

Anyway ps4 brought in the most revenue, sony will be happy.

One more time, it suggested nothing because Amazon only gives rankings but not quantities.

January Amazon rankings
NSW-13, 17
PS4-34, 53, 63
XBO-52, 68, 85

13 & 17 could be 8000 & 7000 units for a total of 15,000

34, 53 & 63 could be 5500, 4500 & 2500 for a total of 12,500

52, 68 & 85 could be 4700, 2300 & 2000 for a total of 9000.

Now lets say NPD figures for January are

NSW-300k
PS4-250k
XBO-180k

That would make the Amazon % of NPD totals the same for each console which would result in no bias.

While what you said is factually correct, the actual gap sales gap is so small that Amazon could easily have been wrong.

A lot of tax money going towards consoles! No cliffs here. Not even for the X.

You know there's a reason we have Amazon chart threads and not Best Buy, GameStop, or Walmart chart threads.

I know, amazon is way more reliable, but based on jan NPD info it's very close, so just sharing info,  and i think it will be very close again.

It may well be close.  For PS4 and Switch anyway, I expect Xbox to start falling off as we move further from the X's launch which was merely a bandage over a problem that requires major surgery.  However, looking to those charts to determine when tides are turning is unwise.  They are much more volatile for one.  We also do not have any real way of knowing what percentage of sales are tracked.  Do brick and mortar sales count towards these lists?  If not, then what percentage of sales is missing?  And then of course they historically much worse predictors.

I fully expect PS4 to be competitive.  The PlayStation brand is very strong and the PS4 has tremendous momentum and some big exclusives coming up.  But I'm not going to make predictions or claim things are swinging this way or that based on one and a half months of sales into 2018, only 1 month of which we have even general data without particulars.

my theory switch is a much better seller online, and switch has been dominating at best buy and gamestop lists so it's just a theory. i honestly think xbox might take it February, it has some great deals for the month, and had a impressive JAN.
