Amazon predicted a win ... it won

Reality.

so the rankings don't matter, and the amount it won by doesn't matter, you realize that doesn't make sense.

There's nothing complicated about the Amazon threads. It's simply a prediction of who will win. Who heads the monthly list at the end of the month, wins. There are exceptions, such as preorder months and the once it actually got it wrong but it only predicts who wins.

I haven't been following these threads properly for a very long time so why are you questioning the Amazon thread? I'm going out on a limb here but is it because you feel the need to think the PS4 could win even when the Switch wins on Amazon? Are you now cherry picking with 'hope' as your main focus?

i only said said we need to see how accurate amazon is now that switch is available. besides amazon wasn't correct for december, as ps4 was way ahead of xbox, and xbox won by a nice margin.

Well, regardless of that, Amazon is very reliable and has been for over three years. I myself have questioned whether Switch could change things so I know where you are coming from.

He could be but there's definitely some representation issues with Amazon ...

While it may not be enough to "tip" the real world rankings so to speak, Amazon is generally skewed relative to the point of reference in comparison to a platform. If we had to pick PS4 as a default point of reference for comparison then the Switch could be over represented from 30% to as much as 100% in terms of real world unit sales and a similar case would apply for the X1 I imagine ...

I'm not quite understanding what you're getting at here. I'll just say that the reason I wondered if the Switch could change things (making Amazon only capable of predicting PS4/XB1 positions for the month) is because 'I see it' as a different market and so, maybe, because of that people will seek different methods of purchase. I see Amazon as simply a poll of American console sales trends, given its reach and breadth.
