I dont get what is the issue here. Are there better sources than Amazon to figure out who wins NPD? And I would love it if people can stop using November 2017 to prove their point.

Yeah the best source is npd themselves. I'm not sure why you'd stress obeo amazon when you can just wait for the results.

Because who ever wins on Amazon wins on NPD in 95% of the cases. Sony fans only started arguing against it because the Switch keeps winning in the US.

I expect Switch to win Jan, but the big issue here is 1. Monster Hunter Special edition? and the fact that sales drop off a cliff in January, meaning that gaps on amazon have less weight (which is what I believe some people are suggesting), which is a perfectly reasonable suggestion.

i.e December/November big gaps on amazon mean bigger differences, while quiet months, big gaps on amazon could only mean 5-25k difference and a special edition could push it over that number.

this is false, ps4 and switch had months where they were super close in NPD so amazon rankings wouldn't really matter, ps4 destroyed xb in december yet xbox won by a nice margin. this year will be good proof if amazon is correct on switch since stock is good, not perfect, but itsa far cry from last year, where it was mostly sold out the whole month. there was another month where switch won on amazon but ps4 won, so 95%, not even close.

Then idk why people are arguing. No one is forcing them to use Amazon or what ever source there is.

Whose arguing about the numbers being useless?

Read the earlier posts here, and there have been many people bringing up how inaccurate Amazon is due to November 2017

Amazon has only been incorrect 3 times since the start of this generation (2013 with the launch of the Xbox One and PS4).
