You think a middle aged plumber from New York city should sound like Mickey Mouse on helium? Ever since NOJ decided to give him that voice, it's always sounded ridiculous to me. What, are we suppose to believe that traveling through another dimension turned his voice into a demented Mickey Mouse? It makes no fucking sense at all and insults my intelligence.

We're talking about an Italian Plumber who eats mushrooms to double in size and gets powers from a flower that lets him shoot fireballs from his hands so he can travel through a fictional dimension to rescue a princess from a giant turtle with spikes on his shell who breathes fire. NOTHING about it makes sense.  Especially after Odyssey, where he was in a realistic looking city with realistically proportioned humans. Yet, last I checked, Odyssey was universally acclaimed and is fast on track to become one of the best selling Mario games ever.

It was never a problem before, why is it suddenly a problem now?

It wasn't a problem? What does that mean? Are you talking about the collective mindset of millions of people? Because I was only talking about myself. My mind can not grasp the concept that a middle aged, Italian plumber from New York city sounds like a mentally challenged Mickey Mouse on a bad LSD trip. It never made sense to me.

At least you realize you are in the minority.

Well it can’t be any worse than the last mario movie.....can it!?

This is not going to end well. Mario will not make a good character within a movie environment.

Don't give him character.  Off the top of my head, you could make a plot that revolves around his supporting characters telling stories of who Mario is from their subjective viewpoints.  It would be easier this way because unlike Mario, his supporting characters like Peach, Luigi, Toad, Bowser and Wario have personalities which would allow writers enough freedom to create entertaining stories filled with action or wackiness without screwing with Mario's 'bland-by-design' identity.

In a country where Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift dominate popular music, Donald Trump is president and the average IQ is only 98, I'm quiet ok with that distinction.

Really don't have high hopes for this, but at least it sounds like it won't be live action, so that's something.

I am very frightened of this development.
