Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The downfall of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Youtube clickbait strikes again)

It is true, though. Breath of the Wild does suffer a downfall in quality the longer it goes on, which isn't to say it ever gets bad, but it surely never matches the sheer excitement of those first 20 hours or so.

Breath of the Wild stayed good for me even after 200 hours. Never had that with any other Zelda game. It's different for everybody.

I didn't say this, either. I've played Breath of the Wild for over 300 hours and I never stopped enjoying it. I just think the game's opening is by far its strongest moment, and from then on it just gets less exciting. It's a game that works best when it forces you to be creative and when it actively surprises you, but by the end you can just force your way through any encounter effortlessly (even bosses) and the game's formula begins to show.

Well, it kind of contradicts. Because the game can be finished within those 20 hours of excitement, but yet we have played 200-300 hours. That is actually what is supposed to happen and it is the strength of the game.

Couldnt believe when I watch the video yesterday. Im one of his subscribers, I usually enjoy the content. Absolutely terrible.

Well, okay. I won't really try arguing with you because it's you, so hopefully this is a satisfying conclusion to the discussion.

Okay. sorry if it came off as arguing, wasn't my intention.

Zelda, at least the 3d ones, aren't meant to be non stop excitement and action. Zelda is more art than it is game, and art is something you get lost in and mesmerized by its beauty. BotW is a game where you could just walk around, listen to the wind, and be aesthetically pleased by the beauty of the world they built.

That's not the point.

Sure, if you have acquired enough hearts and have all the good potions to boost max heart amount, it can be easy, but I personally didn't even know about the heart increasing potions or where to farm ingredients until the end game, so I didn't do anything easily in that game.

So let me get this straight?

He won't make videos cause Nintendo take a cut of the money?

If he claims in his video to love Zelda so much and that its the Best Game of 2017 for him, why does he care if he gets money for promoting a game he likes or not?

Youtube is meant to be a hobby not a job.

this is the kind of shit I do in my spare time because I enjoy it and not want to profit from it.

Yeah, I know I've been guilty of that a few times, which is why I understand why Nintendo does it, and I don't really fault them for it.

I don't fault or defend either side. Both are in it for the money. YouTubers who do it because they love what they do wouldn't care if a few videos get claimed. Nintendo is a company, and being greedy is what companies do. Not defending it. Just acknowledging that's how the world is.

Yeah, that's about where I stand. I understand the reasons behind both sides of this case.

Who would've thought Sakurai's "people are just watching it online" boohoo would ever become a sensible business decision?!

Yeah, it does sounds kinda silly when put that way, haha.

It’s a complicated thing. That’s why full movies and tv shows (except anime at times) get taken down on YouTube. While some creators don’t mind their games being on YouTube, others do. And it’s not like most YouTube creators do it just for their love of games, it’s their careers so they have to post to make revenue.

Yeah, there are definitely 2 sides to this. There's the youtubers who just want to talk about and share their thoughts and love towards games, and there's the companies who don't want their games shown, whether to avoid spoilers or make an extra profit I suppose.
