I can understand his frustration with Nintendo's youtube program. Having a cut of your profits given to Nintendo for using any of their assets isn't great and it's free advertising for Nintendo, but there is a point to be made for Nintendo's actions: spoilers. I recall Sakurai stating this being a reason why he did away with the story cutscenes in Smash Bros, as people quickly posted these online and allowed people to watch them without discovering them in-game themselves. It's not a great reason, but it's one, and I think understandable.

Besides, if he really wanted to talk about BotW or any other game, I'm sure he could find a way without using any assets. Also, despite what he says, other youtubers don't seem to mind much, as I've seen reviews from several others already.

Hell, even Angry Joe did one xD

Oh yeah, he did, which just makes this video seem even more silly. Joe, who often criticizes for these practices and has little to no love for this company put that aside just this once so he could simply share his love for the game. Yet, this guy despite saying how much he enjoyed it can't do the same and just spends a whole video condemning Nintendo for it.

I'm offended by the smoothing out of the beautiful pixels in the NES games he showed.

It is true, though. Breath of the Wild does suffer a downfall in quality the longer it goes on, which isn't to say it ever gets bad, but it surely never matches the sheer excitement of those first 20 hours or so.

I agree, but that's not what the video's even about.

I agree as well.  Frankly, while I though the base game was one of the best I've ever player, I think the DLC was pretty weak.  I didn't even bother to finish it.  It has lowered my opinion of the game overall.

It's not really free advertising. More like, YouTubers making money off of the assets while also advertising it.

I can understand why Sakurai would feel that way as a creator. As a business, it's actually the same reason why a lot of the story-driven games are dying out. Most people would rather watch them on YouTube and never buy them. There are exceptions, like huge studios like Naughty Dog, but for others, it's better to follow the multiplayer/games-as-a-service cash train. That's why Atlus restricted streamers from showing Persona 5 beyond a certain point. And, as mad as the Internet was, they didn't really budge on it and I doubt it negatively affected sales.

Yeah, I know I've been guilty of that a few times, which is why I understand why Nintendo does it, and I don't really fault them for it.

I don't fault or defend either side. Both are in it for the money. YouTubers who do it because they love what they do wouldn't care if a few videos get claimed. Nintendo is a company, and being greedy is what companies do. Not defending it. Just acknowledging that's how the world is.

It’s a complicated thing. That’s why full movies and tv shows (except anime at times) get taken down on YouTube. While some creators don’t mind their games being on YouTube, others do. And it’s not like most YouTube creators do it just for their love of games, it’s their careers so they have to post to make revenue.

I will avoid this video like a spurgeonryan thread

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Doesn't it? Isn't that linked to how you play the game? I for one was very much playing it like a standard Zelda game which only confused me as I did not find purpose and didn't really enjoy it most of the first 30 or so hours and ended up wandering what all the hype was about. After I realized this was no run of the mill Zelda game and started investing my time in goals I set myself (instead of story driven) I started enjoying it more and more. I'm now 70 hours in and just now I can't put it away if I'm supposed to.

There are numerous Breath of the Wild videos though, most Youtubers don't seem to mind.
