Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Polygon: Microsoft's Current Dilemma With Games

Not gonna lie apart of me kind of wants to happen just to see the shit shows it would cause. But a kind of acquisition like this would be terrible for the industry.

Valve owns Steam and is basically the go-to for PC gaming, why on earth would they sell to anyone?

And Valve is a private company to top it off and Gabe is only 55 and I seriously doubt he plans on retiring any time soon let alone sell his company to one that he has been very vocal about criticizing since Windows 8 came out.

Doesn't mean Microsoft couldn't try to ask if they wanted but still that seems like it would be something that Valve would never do.

Doesn't Gabe own half of the shares? Microsoft can't try a takeover without him selling some part of that to them, can't they?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Money?

Yeah but Valve literally makes millions just by owning Steam since they get like a 30-35% cut or smoething like that off of every other game released on there lol, they would never need to sell it to anyone considering how much they already make off of it.

I thought it was an article by the onion, but no... polygon.

Same level of credibility though

I read this rumor today but didn't even realize FIFA would become an Xbox exclusive, this one move would singlehandedly flip the european market and put Sony at a HUGE disadvantage. still we're talking about hundreds of bilions of dollars here, it's hard to say wether MS would attempt making such a move

No, FIFA would always be multiplat as part of the licence agreement.

If they got EA that would be major for them. They would be set for many generations to come.

They'd be going down together. A match made in heaven...or hell.

Considering those rumours....I've laughed better. Ridiculous for so many reasons, I don't even know where to start.

I always found it strange that there were rumours that MS tried to buy PUBG and then shortly after the company that owned it, set up a spin off company. Wouldn't surprise me if they sell PUBG for a few billion and they still have their core company intact.
