would be almost impossible I would think, considering I've lost a combined nearly 400 hours to Mario and BoTW I really can't imagine a more amazing pair of games on a system, especially in the first year of its life.

On Metacritic, I strongly doubt it. There are very few franchises that can get as much universal acclaim as Zelda and 3D Mario.

For me personally, I don't think anything will top Breath of the Wild, unless the new Pokémon game turns out to be the best in the franchise.

Obviously not, Zelda and Mario are Nintendo's two biggest in house franchises, they don't stick more money or time into anything else besides unrelated maybe Pokemon, although with Splatoon's performance in Japan that may change.

But 2017 is a tough year to have to follow between BotW, Odyssey, Splatoon 2, and XC2...
Having said that, there are still those out there hoping Nintendo can recapture the glory of Ocarina of Time (as well as people hoping they can recapture the glory of A Link to the Past), so I imagine there will be plenty of people who feel very differently...

When was the last time there was a game that impressed on the level of Breath of the Wild? That might be all the way back at Super Mario Galaxy, almost a decade earlier.

Well as of Oct they got BOTW working in 4k 60fps, so looks like my 2018 is gearing up to be the year I play that. I wanted to wait till it got to this point to play it. So you know what beats BOTW? 4k 60fps BOTW.

Scorewise, it will be tough to match
