Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Will any game come out in 2018 that is better than Breath of the Wild or Mario Odyssey?

I think people in this thread are really doubting the critical praise that will be heaped upon God of War and Red Dead Redemption 2. I think God of War will be close but not close enough. Red Dead Redemption 2 though? That one's trickier...

I think you might need to reserve judgement as well, because this god of war is taking a completely different approach from what were used to. This is going to be a thirty hour action adventure and will truly be an epic journey. Sony and Rockstar have been gaining higher rated first party ip as the generations pass.

Tons. It's a matter of perspective.

The purpose of my comment was to say that people are underestimating God of War 4's potential acclaim, so I'm not sure why you're telling me to reserve judgement in reference to that title... doesn't make a whole lot of sense. We're pretty much in agreement, this game will probably be a new shining star for Sony with even bigger acclaim than the last ones. I just don't think that it will beat out Zelda, but it's very likely it will get close to it, possibly even matching Mario. That's a pretty fair assessment, so i'm not sure what you want me to do. I think it can do amazing things, it's just that my specific prediction is just that it will do very well and get close to those titles, which is a pretty generous prediction.

Basically, you're just saying i'm not being positive enough

Anything can happen. Personally, Red Dead Redemption has a good chance to go up there.

I almost can't wait to see what horrors Take-Two try unleash upon us in that game. And they will try. I'll probably start flagulating myself by the time GTA 6 rolls around, just to take some measure to try and stop what's going to happen from happening. Big fan.

Apologies. I read incorrectly.

That's fine I was really confused.

I wonder where it will land when all is said and done, though! This generation got real good last year.

True enough. Yeah, I was playing Zelda and reading on and off, so I missed a word in your sentence. My mistake, but you're very correct. This year has so much to bring and honestly this is the year that Nintendo has to prove they've got something beyond Zelda, Mario and Pokemon. If they drop pokemon and Metroid that could do the trick though, but Metroid isn't what it used to be in fanfare, so that game will have to turn heads. Sony has been picking up the pace.

Come on Kingdom Hearts 3, God Of War, SpiderMan!

Maybe a last of us 2 suprise release this year. God of war, daysgone and shadow colossus remake.
