Will any game come out in 2018 that is better than Breath of the Wild or Mario Odyssey?

On a personal level, of course. I love BotW but Odyssey is boring. State of Decay 2 is coming this year. If it’s as good as the first one, it will beat both of those games imho.

If you’re talking about the general consensus/metacritic, then hell no. Maybe RDR2.

Nope, I don't think Bayonetta 3 is coming out this year ;)

better is a opionion, but critically no dont think so

Well, Celeste came out this year and it is a better game than Odyssey.

But I don't think a game could top BotW for me anytime soon.

God of War
Metroid Prime 4 if it comes in 2018
Ace Combat 7
Metal Gear Survive
RDR2
Secret of Mana remake

''Hadouken!''

Not even this generation (let alone 2018).

The chances of a better game than Breath of the Wild coming out this generation is almost non-existent. Super Mario Bros 3, Ocarina of Time, and Mario Galaxy are IMO the only games ever released that are on the same tier as Breath of the Wild. It’s about once a decade a game like this comes out. Super Mario Odyssey is a step lower, maybe GTA VC/SA/5, DKC trilogy, Mario World/64, Link to the Past, Chrono Trigger, GE007, FF7, tier; those games are rare enough.

I don’t expect another Breath of the Wild Tier game until 2025-2030.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I don't think it'll be hard to beat either. I'll probably get hate for this, but those two franchises' main entries get biased reviews by critics. In reality, they're both probably low 90s on Metacritic if critics weren't so up in Ninty's ass.

Nintendo are good devs but they don't make perfect or close to perfect games. There are several problems with both Odyssey and BOTW that haven't been addressed by critics. Odyssey has less of those and I feel those could of easily been rectified with longer game development. BOTW on the other hand, had too many that are classified as design flaws. So I would ideally say, that what could beat Odyssey this year?

I'm not sure, we'll need to wait till E3. I haven't seen a gameplay video for a 2018 game that has caught my interests yet. If RDR2 has online BR and a proper single player campaign then so be it...but I need more gameplay videos.

Wow, the disparity between critic score and userscore is pretty deep in Zelda and Mario. I guess MC users prefer Persona 5 over Zelda and Mario.

The fact that Metacritic doesn't require you to actually play the game, takes away all credibility of the user scores.

First party game franchises like Zelda and Mario attract more anti-fans and trolls than smaller ones like Persona. Many only want to put the scores down in order to fool people into thinking it is a bad game because they hate Nintendo; it is a political thing.

In terms of critical reception? Unlikely, though possible naturally. In terms of what I would personally find better, that can definitely happen. Of course, I would first actually have to play BotW and Odyssey too.
