Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony patents reveal new Motion like controller

Two new patents filed by Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) suggest that a new motion-controller could be on the way, specifically designed to boost the interactive nature of the company’s virtual reality (VR) platform, PlayStation VR. Not only does this potential revision of the existing PlayStation Move controller add an analog stick – a much requested feature of the PlayStation VR community – but also finger tracking technology

They definitly need them, just a matter of when. Having joy sticks for movement will greatly enhance the expereince. I just hope they can figue out 360 controller tracking as well. It will all make its way to PS5 and PSVR2, but I wouldn't mind if they copied PS1 and addded Joy Sticks and 360 tracking mid gen on PS4 and PSVR1.

That's pretty much what I've most wanted from PSVR moving forward. Move controllers with a stick is the number one thing, but finger tracking is a wonderful bonus!

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

News about those patents is a few weeks old already. What I find more interesting, is the details of those patents now revealed...The controllers include finger tracking and are tracked by the actual headset, which makes one assume they will be mated with an inside out tracking headset, namely PSVR2...Which also sadly, at least most likely, confirmes, they won't be happening for PS4 and PSVR1 anymore. The lack of tracking lights also give that away.

It's about time. The current move controllers are okay for many games, but the Oculus touch controllers are miles ahead.

One of the reasons I buy most multiplatform VR games for the Rift and almost only exclusives (and games with Aim-controller-support) for my PSVR.

Read the article in the OP. Those are most likely not for PSVR but for PSVR2.

PS5 and PSVR2 in development!

move controls are one of the reasons I was never even slightly tempted to buy psvr, this looks like a gigantic step in the right direction if true.

If true this will also most likely be a PS5 thing

Finally something to hold that doesn't look like a fallic object with a clown nose on it.

Edit: It was just a joke mates. The move controllers are great fun.

Because you care so much for how it’s looks when you’re wearing the headset. You sound insecure about your sexuality....

I kid, I kid.
