This could go on but I'll shorten it yes it does. There's a reason EA was quoted saying linear single player games don't sell. With some exceptions they really don't. This is VGC, look it up yourself.

I don't care about EA's quotes. In fact, they're some of the last set of folks I'd listen to. And this being VGC is irrelevant to my point entirely. But, as I noted, believe what you want. This newest release is what it is.

They have analysts working for them, they know more about the market than any of us. Tell me, if linear games had such high sales potential why do we see such few ones coming out. Developers wouldn't just not serve these people out of spite. There is more to it.

Look at Wolfenstein 2. Fits the bill. Critically acclaimed game but nobody is buying it. ACO and SMO came out the same day and sold millions more. Just so obvious man, if you ignore such evidence there is no point in further discussion.

I will go for 7M in about 18 months If its bundled, then 10M+ easy.

10 million is gonna be hard because times have changed so much since the glory days of God of War and the hack 'n slash genre in the mid 2000s.

Today the gaming market is increasingly about "games as a service", where the target is to force the player to invest disproportionately into just one single game, but God of War just tries to be extremely good quality.

The focus on good story is almost on a level of a quality movie or book, we see a more humane and very likable Kratos and even the boy is very likable. The combat mechanics look genuinely fun. And the graphics are absolutely incredible. And the game is very long for this type of game, like 30 hours to complete I think.

So God of War surely will sell at its maximum possible potential for the type of game it is. Like the OP brought up, the Uncharted games are a good comparison to start with. I think 8 million is within reach.

3M max. The game looks boring, too much focus on story. I could be wrong , but that’s the impression I got from the trailers

I'm not sure if enough hype is surrounding the game for it to hit the mark. I haven't been following it that closely, but I think if it were likely to sell 10m, it would have more people talking about it.

At the same time, this isn't in any way an objective observation. It's just how I'm feeling. The series has been kind of stagnated IMO so I think it'll do 5m at most.

(Just going to add here that I haven't been following gaming as much recently so I could be totally off about how much people are looking forward to this)

My prediction : 8 million.

I think it'll be in Sony's best interest if they do an aggressive advertising campaign. They've had a lot of exclusives but i've hardly seen anything on TV, or even ad posters in subway stations.

CPU: Ryzen 7950X
GPU: MSI 4090 SUPRIM X 24G
Motherboard: MSI MEG X670E GODLIKE
RAM: CORSAIR DOMINATOR PLATINUM 32GB DDR5
SSD: Kingston FURY Renegade 4TB
Gaming Console: PLAYSTATION 5

It certainly deserves to break the 10 million mark and I really hope it will make it. Although I fear it will end up only doing 6 million units. If this game alongside Horizon, Spiderman and Uncharted do break at least the 8 million mark LT shipped, bundled and digital, that will be a great incentive to keep AAA SP games alive and well.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

im with it, 10m+ is doable.
I think last years contoversies with gams as service and loot boxes and micro transactions are gona make single player story driven games have a big push. As long as game lenth is decent, like I belive god of war is, desapointed audiences in destiny and battlefront and the like will start looking for new experiences. Not to mention the disapointed xbox fans since late 360 that are jumping ship. also sonys increase trust they have gained do to their single player games being big hits and getting plenty of buzz.
