Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why are a handful of VR users so adamant?

When I don’t understand why the new fads are popular, I assume that I am just getting old. I’ve tried VR, it made me queasy. Fun idea, not for me. Gaming stopped at the SNES. What’s with music these days? Get off my lawn!

I push VR because I like it. Of course, I was ready to like it so I may not be the most reliable person. I don't think I'm too aggressive, though. It's just that you can't appreciate VR until you experience it. You can't get the actual feeling from videos or whatever. It's like describing the scent of a rose to someone who can't smell. You're just enthusiastic because you want them to feel like you feel.

What I'm saying is go see Disney Pixar's CoCo.

My only access to VR is at work, Oculus DK2.
I have yet to meet someone, as much as DK2 is flawed, who didn't really like it.

Because psychology.

When you spend boat loads of money on something, it serves a psychological purpose for that thing to succeed in your mind because it says "I'm a smart person and make smart decisions."

The same reason exists for why people who can't afford VR often shit on it lol

Human nature really, all rooted in insecurities.

I'm sorry if I'm coming too strong but if you feel "... that they are almost turning me off from it." just from what others say online, then you sound like a weak person. There's strong/irrational fanboys everywhere, why would VR be any different?

This is not a personal attack...

Don't worry, I'm not spending most of my game time in VR to justify my purchase.

Actually PSVR is not all that great. I made a thread about all its problems not long after I got it. Despite that, I have lost interest in most traditional games and the only non VR PS4 games I've bought last year are HZD, Nex Machina and GTS. (Wipeout Omega as well, yet waiting for the psvr patch before playing)

VR is simply a better way to experience games, better than a projector or 4K HDR set.

You've been long enough on this forum, you should've learned the concept of a "fanboy" by now. This thread is inexcusable.

He tried hard to do a satire thread on Habams 'Why do people say they have tried VR when they havent' but it fell flat and not many picked up on it. Yoda, no fool is he, just spiteful, he is.

I didn't even pick up on it which means it was poorly done. We have reaction threads like this every day so this one was indistinguishable from those. The arguments and questions in the OP are also on par with the usual thread quality on this forum.

There are many things you can do to make it more apparent. Use the same terrible formatting, use the exact same phrases with only a few words switched, make the arguments more outlandish and so on.

This guy has a lot to learn if he wants to join the current parody thread meta.

I can see that, but I guess I just try not to do that myself.  If I buy into something and it doesn't meet my expectations I'll warn others away.

Using your explanation though wouldn't the overwhelming amount of reviews for larger ticket items be good? Do you think this only applies to big ticket items or that the same psychological processes come into play on cheaper items?

Don’t listen to this negative nanny. It’s basically just extreme excitement and the will to share it with others, or better trying to help others find their way to VR, just as oneself did. Many simply think it’s just a screen strapped to your face or have other reasons to talk it down.

Whatever, I don’t understand why people even answer to these threads when they even annoyed by it.

Go to Amazon and read some user reviews about PSVR, you’ll find mostly very positive reactions.

Sure, some people might react a bit overexcited lately, which is due to the fact that they have just started discovering VR. Totally understandable, if you have had great experiences yourself.

That said I also notice a lot of negativity towards the subject, mostly by people with little to no own experience. You simply can’t deny that. This happens for various reasons, mainly because some people don’t want VR to gain traction.

Although this is clearly happening, we all know discussions on the internet usually lead to nothing, since everybody just disregards his social manners and believes he’s right. For that reason I’m going to stop trying to discuss with the usual naysayers for above mentioned reasons and will stick to people who actually do own headsets and therefore at least know what they’re talking about.

if anyone outside of that realm has any questions he/she can happily ask me per PM.

Skit thread on Habams one? I thought we weren't allowed to do these anymore.

Hmm, it's getting easier to pin point who is lying about using VR or not, thats for sure.

Also "turning you off from it"? What a childish and hypocritical response. No one has forced you to participate in VR discussion threads.

He tried the same thread yesterday and it got deleted because he clearly targeted it at habam’s threads.

just as you said...and I wrote before. Why even engage in those threads when those people aren’t interested or all they want to do is talk it down?!

Errorist and Alfredo are both right ironically.  Those who buy the product and like it may double down on

their philosophy and won't want to hear negative opinions.  Those who don't own may experience "sour grapes" - if I don't have itm it cannot be any good
