Recommendations are mostly geared towards being palatable rather than safety. The question OP should ask himself should be does he really want to eat steak with 2 year old freezing damage ?

If OP is squeamish then he should cook it "well-done" since that incinerates the meat ...



I am sure its safe, but I was just going to throw it away. The taste wouldn't be worth it. Instead my mom insisted on taking it, so I guess we will see just how much of a difference time has made on it. She intends to send me pictures of a perfectly fine steak.
