God of War 4 vs Nintendo Labo

God of War 4 75 55.15%

Nintendo Labo 55 40.44%

They will sell about the same 4 2.94%

Results 2 1.47%

Total:136

I oftentimes underestimate Nintendo, as was the case with Brain Age, Wii Fit, Nintendogs, etcetera. But Labo is different from anything I've seen before. I can't see it selling more than a few million units, if it doesn't completely flop altogether. I love Nintendo, so I don't want to see this happen, especially considering I may pick one up for my daughter and I.

This is such a strange thing, I almost don't think it can be predicted; it can just be "guessed".

I'm guessing 5-7M for God of War, 1-15M for Labo.

Considering price and that GoW doesn't cross 10M units, while Labo is something geared for bigger markets it should sell a lot more.

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

God of War 4 will definitely sell more out of the gate, but I think Labo will have a much longer tail. Labo has a few major advantages, including:

1. It’s not just one game, but a franchise. It’s going to to get multiple games, more than the two already revealed.

2. Games like Labo, when they do well, tend to sell well consistently for YEARS.

So I definitely give Labo the edge here. Of course, if Labo pulls a Wii Music and turns out to not be very appealing to consumers, then God of War 4 will crush it through sheer name recognition alone. It’s basically franchise appeal vs mainstream appeal here. GoW is a tried and tested brand, Labo isn’t. But Labo could appeal to a wider audience if it has the mass appeal I think it has.

BotW is an everchanging game to the franchise.

To be fair, GoW4 is a pretty big departure from previous installments as well.

From what i have seen, it has sort of evolved from a DMC/Bayonetta style hack n slash to now incorporate more from traditional 3rd person action games like Uncharted/Last of Us.

So similar to BotW in the sense of adapting by adding aspects from other games like Skyrim and other open world western RPGs.

"The upcoming god of war is rather atypical for a modern triple-A game. Unlike most of today’s big titles, God of war won't feature an open world, opting instead for a “wide linear” approach, in which exploration is encouraged, within limits."

So more like Uncharted

No chance. Zelda on switch going to do more than 10mil.

Wait, hold up now. Let me get this Straight. A Legend of Zelda game has never sold more than 7.5 million, and after a year, BOTW is going to have around 5M in sales on Switch. But BOTW is definitely doing more than 10 million yes?

However, because God of War has never sold more than 4.8 million, it's impossible for it to hit 10 million?

Even though there are 60 million more PS4 owners than Switch owners? Are you sure about this?

Nintendo generally has much better attach rates on their first-party titles, and Zelda is going to have a lot of legs.

It's a bet I'd be up to, anyways.

Bet with PeH:

I win if Arms sells over 700 000 units worldwide by the end of 2017.

Bet with WagnerPaiva:

I win if Emmanuel Macron wins the french presidential election May 7th 2017.

This is a sad comparrison. GoW has never sold 5 million. Labo will likely have at least 4 standalone packages. It's like pitting 4 games to one, with that one (GoW) not being a crazy, crazy seller in the first place. The craziest claim in this thread, though, is that GoW would outsell Zelda on the Switch. BotW is almost at the ceiling for GoW titles and it hasn't even been around for a full year. How, how can people speak with such certainty when the numbers are readily available on this site? I can only assume that many posters don't know about the tools this site offers, or they suffer from an affliction which many VGC users suffer from when they first arrive here: that your favorite core or hardcore game or genre is somehow a major seller...and they sadly usually never are.

I think Labo sells 2:1 over GoW.
