Forums - Gaming Discussion - Atari launches crowdfunding campaign for RollerCoaster Tycoon Switch

I love how the guy in the video acts as if Atari is still a name people even care about. They haven't been a household name for over a decade at this point.

Also.. $750 contribution for just 25% off the final game? Absolutely pathetic.

Judging from the website, it's more like you purchase "stocks" in the game, for a potential ROI. I don't get 25% off Nintendo games even though I own Nintendo stocks, but this seems a bit riskier of an investment so they naturally have to sweeten the deal.

So if you choose to invest in this, it's first and foremost to make money off of it. I personally won't go anywhere near this system haha.

Yeah was just about to link that here

- At least $750: Investor perk as outlined above, and a discount of 25% off the street price of the game at launch valid for a purchase of 1 unit of RollerCoaster Tycoon Nintendo Switch;

What the actual fuck, unless the game is going to cost $3,000 this is a bad investment.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Just how bad is Atari's situation that it needs to crowfund 10k to port a game to a console?

Youtube comments are saying its a mobile game, thats free..... thats getting the port to the switch.

No idea if thats true but... jeebus.

Atari is really bad if it needs crowdfunding for not only its console but also a port.

As someone with fond memories of Atari (Atari ST anyone?), it's hard to see them like this.

It's not the same Atari.

The old Atari died and then some french company dug up the corpse, cut off the face, and started using it as a mask.

Said french company is a name in gaming itself: Infogrames. I remember the logo from back then. They made Alone in the Dark and North&South, so they're far from a nobody.

I do remember infogames lol. Just didn't know they were the ones who became Atari.
