Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The 3rd party support of Switch...would you say it is already better than the Wii?

So...it does?

Yes! It is beating Wii to the ground! 12 41.38%

No! Switch still have a lot to learn! 10 34.48%

Meh...they are kinda the same. 7 24.14%

Total:29

Have to wait a few years, since 3rd party can leave whenever they feel like it

It still has a long way to go. At least it has a much better indie support, though.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Come join The 2018 Obscure Game Monthly Review Thread.

I wouldn't say it's even close yet. While Switch got Skyrim, Doom, Minecraft, Rocket League, LA Noire, Disgaea, Stardew Valley, and Fifa, it still fell very short of the Wii's first year.

Some of the bigger year 1 third party games on Wii included:
* Resident Evil 4
* Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles
* Call of Duty 3 and 4
* Medal of Honour
* Okami
* Fifa
* PES
* Tiger Woods PGA
* Madden NFL
* SSX
* Tony Hawk
* Need for Speed
* Far Cry
* Bully
* Splinter Cell
* Prince of Persia
* Driver
* Guitar Hero
* Rock Band
* The Godfather
* Scarface
* Zack and Wiki
* Geometry Wars
* The Simpsons Game
* Trauma Center
* Elebits
* Spyro the Dragon
* No More Heroes
* Red Steel
* Harvest Moon (Story of Seasons)

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Well, indie support is better, that is because digital distribution at Wii-times weren't as good as it is now.

In retail games Switch still lacks in comparison to Wii. Don't forget, Wii had Bloombox, Red Steel (1+2), Trauma Center,Zack&Wiki, 5 Resident Evil titles (1, zero, 4, Umbrella Chronicles and Darkside Chronicles), Call of Duty, Okami, Monster Hunter Tri, Cursed Mountain, Just Dance, Zumba, Another Code R, Little Kings Story, Mushroom Men, Deadly Creatures, Tales of Symphonia and thousands more I forget.

my greatest games: 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023

10 years greatest game event!

Millions might exxagerate it. But the 3rd-party-support of Wii is usually too fast discarded, because it missed the big AAA-games, but below that level but above shovelware (which was present in masses too) were quite a lot of games. It might be hard to reach these numbers, as a lot of smaller game companies has folded and bigger companies do concentrate these days more on bigger games and have less and less mid-level games. But Indies fill this gap these days.

Being honest, I feel the majority of thid party support for the Wii was made of terrible ports, or games made in a rush, just to grab money, but most ports I've seen for the Switch are very good. In terms of quantity: Wii, but Switch support is far better, considering the quality of the games.

Maybe its about equal?.. maybe with time it ends up getting more though (I think).
