OP, nothing personal man, but i do think you should watch less mainstream shows. There are a lot of great series' that don't get the recognition they deserve. I can't really say best of all time right now, but I can do what I consider my top 10 from last year alone.

1. Kemono Friends

2.Land of the Lustrous

3.Little Witch Academia

4.Blend S

5. Scum's Wish

6.Konosuba S2

7. My Hero Academia s2

8.Attack On titan s2

9. Ero Manga Sensei

10.Blue Exorcist Kyoto Arc

There are still some shows that I didn't get around to watching as well, so it might change eventually.

I know and I thought the best way to get to know more animes is to make everybody tell me some good ones haha =)

Mine's pretty generic but:

1. Fullmetal Alchemist Series
2. Neon Genesis + End of Eva(just at 2nd place because I haven't seen it in forever, it could be shit now idk)
3. Welcome to the NHK
4. Mob Psycho
5. Ping Pong The Animation
6. Jojo's Bizzare Adventure (only have seen Season 1, Arcs 1-2)
7. Kino's Journey
8. Ghost in the Shell (1995)

after that everything becomes less a "favorite" and more like just a show to fill the top 10 gap, so I won't add it. I need to get back into anime xD

Are you one of those people that think that they're not watching a mainstream show because they have a DVD of Baccano! ? (Jk, only kidding, kind of)

Idk about that, I'd consider probably half of my list mainstream, but that doesn't mean theyre bad :P I'm just waiting for that KING CRIMSON to show up right now though #Part5Never

Yeah I love mainstream anime. But there are still some more obscure gems out of the ~50 anime I watched in 2017. Still atm I don't have any of them in my top 10, due to nostalgia I assume. Maybe in 5 years I will rate them higher.

Yeah, you can really tell when a show is great and memorable, when you can look back to it a few years later and it still gets you hyped or emotional.
