Vr is a shockingly lonely and isolates way too play. Also it makes me sick. Was cool as fuck whwn i first played it but yeah its just a gimmick.

Multiplayer games in VR are the most natural from of communication I have ever had with people through a device, and it is only going to get better going forward. Communication and interaction with others in VR is a massive leap over anything else on the market. It is like if you stepped into a video chat and shared the same space with the person you are talking with as opposed to looking at each other through a screen.

As far as motion sickness goes, that sucks. I hope they are able to figure something out to address this next gen.

I highly doubt VR is a gimmick. It already offers a massive leap in gameplay over traditional displays and control methods, anx that gap will only widen going forward. As it becomes easier and easier to set up and use, I can not see how even non gamers wouldn't pick one up. The possibilities are basically endless.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

The pro has zero exclusive games. In fact, Sony won't allow anyone to make any game exclusively for the PS4 Pro at this time. Meanwhile, the PSVR has dozens of exclusive games like R.I.G.S., which Sony gave away to all PS+ subscribers.

Like I said, we know the PS4 Pro sold *at least* 2 million by June 2017.

PS4 Pro vs PSVR is a completely fair comparison. They're both new Playstation products. They both enhance the Playstation gaming experience. They were both released at about the same time. They're both completely optional from the core PS4 experience. Yet, one has been more expensive since its announcement, has never dropped in price, and has sold more.

I can guarantee you if PSVR was outselling PS4 Pro you would have mentioned it in this thread as evidence to the popularity of it.

VR is not a completely new medium. I can remember playing Duke Nukem 3D VR at a theme park in the 90's. Just because Sony decided to wade into the VR waters doesn't make the experience new.

The Pro is a 100 $ upgrade to the normale PS4 which doesnt require it. Other then more performance it still offers a larger HDD. it still just sold 20% of the PS4s which is incredible bad.

The PSVR, even during its sale, was still a 200$ upgrade which requires a PS4 or PS4 pro to run at all.

I had actually expected the pro to sell much better. just 20% for all it does for just 100$ definitly shows the market isnt ready for more powerfull consoles but just want cheaper consoles.

The market so far doesnt seem VR ready either yet though,  we will see if that changes or not.

There are games where there's either no point to VR, or it makes the experience worse.

It would be a fucking nightmare to view this game in first person mode through a characters field of view in VR.
And there's little point in viewing it from the side the same way you do on your TV.

If it ever happens, it certainly won't be with PS5.

Tekken 7 has a (small) VR mode. People actually liked it even when it wasnt executed that great.

I assuming PS5 is no later then November 2020 then 0 chance is will be VR only. I personally love my HTC Vive and depending on the price I upgrade it to the new Vive pro when it comes out. That being said the technology is no where close to being advance/mature enough to be powered by a console by 2020 at a affordable cost. I bought the VIVE knowing that the resolution was not yet high enough for me to never notice the pixels or that even my 1080TI not going to power the kind of graphic I would really like to see in VR. It still not ready for mass consumption through.

Most people I know are wowed the first time they experience the vive but not enough to go out and buy it them selves. Some of them did go get the PSVR since it a lower cost of entry but it something they use once in awhile and not the kind of hours Sony hope to see log on there consoles.

I do believe VR is the future but am thinking more like 2027 then 2020 when it mature enough for a console to be dedicated to it.

During the holidays:

PS4 Slim: $199 + PSVR $199 = $399
PS4 Pro: $399

So about that pricing argument...

The 199,- deal was sold out pretty quickly though, so there was no way to sell more units for that price then they did.

The Pro is actually 349€ in europe and dropped to 299 locally during xmas. The PSVR on the other hand never was 199 in europe either. In most countired 299 was the cheapest it ever got.

Your point was that PSVR still sold for a cheaper price  less then the pro, which it actually didnt. PSVR outsold the Pro heavily as it saw the price drop.

I imagine it to be pretty funny to revive this thread in ~4 years if they announce the VR only PS5 :D

Is Sony leaving the TV business? If not, why should they force people to VR instead of offering it as an option and earn twice in many cases.

I love VR games (and have probably played and enjoyed more of them than you), but I also enjoy other games on a 2D display.
