Forums - Sony Discussion - PS4: Dreams Stream On 16th Feb

This was better. They showed a few new features and a more or less finalised UI and toolset. The editing tool (for level complexity) looks fantastic. Being able to go in and adjust the thermo piece by piece is just incredible:

This was really cool! Can’t wait for the next stream where they’ll show of more logic :)

I’ve also got the biggest Dreams community on PlayStation now; almost 4000 members :P It’s called «Dreams by Mm» :)

It's okay, you can still watch it from their Twitch page;

Gonna' watch it myself later on... that .gif above sure looks interesting, lol

Thanks man! Wow, this game is insane. I watched through the whole thing as I worked at my office. I saw enough to be continuously wowed by this tool set. Truly unprecedented. I just worry about he art style at times. Can be a bit creepy, which I don’t think draws mainstream attraction. And I really hope they have a good, fun campaign!! Without this, again, I fear theyll miss the potential for a broad/mainstream attraction the their game.

The art style is entirely down to the creator. There could be a case to be made about the colour pallet appearing 'pastel-like' but that's about the only limitation if it is in fact the case. I've noticed that Kareem favours subtle colours when designing and I'm more or less certain (that makes no sense!) that, if you wish, you can choose more vibrant colours.

You are right about the mainstream appeal, or the lack of it.

As cool as the creation aspects are each time they show them, they still consistently fail to show more versatile gameplay moments.

And they insist on showing exactly the same thing every time. Yes, they drop a little tit-bit of new info here and there and show the improved UI but it's time to lift the veil and show us some deep dives. It's beginning to annoy me quite a lot. They even mention it in most streams, as if they know what people want but are making excuses. People want to see the animation studio and the logic, as well as in depth looks at ALL the different settings available. These streams are going to be every month which isn't particularly heartening. They should be every week now and there's clearly enough content and features to sustain it until release.

You can make any art style you like :P And the game does have a singleplayer campaign, which tells three stories, all with different art styles and gameplay mechanics! :P

I know it does. I just meant I hope it’s good and that it makes a $60 purchase worth it for for people who have no interest in the creation component. I read that the campaign is only like 5 hours long, and that worries me. Littlebigplanet was amazing and sold really well, but most of those sales were from people primarily interested in the campaign rather than creating.

Yeah but even if you aren't interested in making anything yourself, you can play other people's levels which will add more playtime too, especially considering they can link levels together to create their own story, so you have more campaigns to play through then! :P

This is very true. And the potential for incredible, complex, and varied levels from the community will be unprecedented in Dreams, from the looks of it.
