Yeah Zelda will be way over 3m with Wii U but the post was for Switch only.

I know. I just wanted to point out GotY after XC2 is ahead of SMO :P

For now.

When was the last time Sony finished third? The PS3 era? This is crazy stuff.

Not really if you really think about it. Especially when you consider that for the holiday season the PS4 still was the top selling console.

As weird as this may sound, I am happy they came third. They dropped the price of the PS4 to $200 in November (heck of a deal by the way) only to have everyone buying it at $250-$300  once stock of the $200 SKU ran out (which was basically for the last 7 weeks of the year). This should push sony towards getting the price to $200 permanently, especially if MS keeps offerring a sub $200 SKU unless they are ok with coming third and still selling ok for the majority of 2018.

Make no mistake though, if the PS4 was priced at $199 for the rest of the year, they would have won NPD. Proof? Selling for $199 for all of a week in November got them to win November NPD with sales higher than the NS was able to manage in December. Whereas the XB1 remained more or less flat.

Now they question is, how soon will sony make that official price drop to $199? Will they even bother at all? Cause while its great for us here to argue about who is winning NPD or not, for sony right now that doesn't matter a single bit.

I think you are forgetting about Wii U version of BotW which tips it over the Mario games.

He isn't wrong tho, BotW is #1 on Switch retail alone. Which could only mean AFAIK that Odyssey is ahead due to digital (makes sense; smaller game, bundles come with a digital code).

Ya Nintendo officially stated SMO had an attach ration of over 60% while BotW was over 55% which includes digital.

Appreciate the graphs shadow. Overall it looks like December was a good month. BTW do you have any graphs comparing total console units during the holiday or year. Would like to see how 2017 would compare to the 7th gen.

Absolute beast the Switch was this month. XB1 selling excellently, but the PS4 is a bit lower than expected. Kinda funny that Xbox won the holiday, but didn't win a single month.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

So who actually won the holiday period? I'm seeing different and contradicting comments on this thread in this regard...

Xbox 360 and Xbox One

PS4 & XBO are essentially tied, the difference is less than 1%.

Don't know if this is thread worthy but saw this on Twitter:

This anaylist says that between OCT-DEC, Nintendo sold 7 million Switch units. That means it's over Nintendo's projected 14,6m.

Yaaass 3DS lives. People are probably buying it due to that Radiant Historia hype ;)
