No it's not. Nintendo can cater at different audiences at the same time. Switch is mobile, motion controlled and console in one. None really handicap the other.

The fact that they have to say that its specially crafted for kids is not a good thing. Its like "Hey we threw something together that only a human with a still developing brain can enjoy."

You might be right about that. Yet it will not remove existing or coming games, nor really cancel future dedicated gaming support. The hardcore Nintendo fans will get what they are already got in addition with something for the kids.

The new accessory was leaked last year

This actually makes too much sense. If they dont put too much focus on it(as in, they keep the oitput of actual games going as it is), Im more than fine.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

I'm just tired of being reminded that my console is for kids. Just show what you have to show. No need to dictate who the game is for.

People are way too paranoid honestly....
Nintendo as a company wants to expand to every possible market, having a kids peripheral or whatever this ends up being won’t hurt the Switch image.
Having a kids focused direct will stop anyone from buying Breath of the Wild, Mario Oddysey, Bayonetta 3? Saying that it will is just ludicrous.

Nintendo and PC gamer

For kids, they really need to create a primarily portable Switch that is smaller, with nondetachable controllers so it is easier to play, understand, and not break. They can make various colors of it, make it link up to a main switch as a controller or secondary screen, and have it be digital downloads only so the cartridges are not choke hazards. This way they can maket THAT as the kid version of the same console and then there is no question that the main Switch is more adult driven.

Yep I'm probably not gonna care about whatever it is, but I'm still happy about this announcement due to what it could mean. As long as it's shorter than the Mini Direct then I'll fully believe the Chrom dude about a major Direct in February.

Mobile + console integration?

For kids or kids at heart... no.

I'd say AR is more likely than VR.

Hmm, maybe. Nintendo has dabbled in AR with 3DS and these cards and a mini-game. But I saw nothing serious. Oh, Denpa-Men is AR too I guess. I fail to see the big thing involving AR at the moment, but Nintendo surprised me in the past.

Holo Pokedex.

I called it  :P

That would actually work. The technology is there, I remember reading about a company making something for cell phone that projects holographic images. There are even guides in the internet to do something like that yourself with normal materials. This technology would work on the Switch-screen. The detachable Joycons would allow to still control things.

I doubt we'll see something like this today, but it would actually be possible.

My guess would be a pokemon amibo card game or switch sports

Switch sports? Yes please,  says the kid in me!

Switch Sports would be awesome. And in difference to all the naysayers I say it would still sell at least 30 million.
