Off-topic: I wasn't aware that the Xbox One didn't have a 10 million seller. Just not something I'd expect after the good few the 360 had.

womt that mean like over 30% of xb1 gamers buy a game?

I guess that would be a tall order. Halo 2 did achieve 26% on the OG Xbox.

I was wondering the same thing the other day, I saw Titanfall 2 was pretty close. MS lost a lot of core gamers this gen, giving PS the upper hand in just about every genre.

ps4 having much faster memory, and way better GPU, really hurt the xbox one. the hype for ps4 became insane when the ps4 specs were announced while xbox one, well it was a huge let down.

Halo.

Hardly, but thats not at all surprised, PS4 has 2x larger user base and similar audience.

Playstation fan base is a lot more diverse than Xbox's.
Xbox can sell 100 million units but only 1% are interested in a certain type of games. Playstation can sell 20 million units but 10% are interested in those type of games. Even if the totals are similar like previous generation., games that fit European or Japanese sales will always sell better on PS. Even within the US or UK, PS fans are still a lot more diverse.
That is the reason why it is much harder for Microsoft to come up with successful new IP and build a new franchise around it.

I made sure to word it vaguely in the OP but I think 360 titles outsold the PS3 version more often than not. I think PlayStation normally won out with games like Final Fantasy and titles that just "felt right" on PS (Metal Gear, for example) but games that catered to a Western audience (FPS, WRPG, Sandbox, etc) were solidly in the Xbox camp. I'm going off of memory which can be flawed, of course.

It's crazy how things can change over the course of a new generation.

I think that this could be explained by the largest share the 360 held in the US, the region with the highest tie-ratio. This gen, the PS4 has a decent lead in the US, a massive one on the EU/ROW and Japan as a bonus. It's hard for X1 to outsell PS4 in anything when the base is smaller in all big regions.

The thing with consoles is that gens are simply a way to start from scratch. It's fair game for everyone. That's why I always laugh when people say we won't have gens anymore. Do they think MS wants to be stuck forever in a gen where they are being completely destroyed? No way.

If you look at markets that are not gen based, but simply more cyclic, market leadership changes are either extremely slow, caused by a incredible sequence of screw-ups, or caused by a disruptive new tech.

i think garden warfare 2 but not sure

Both Garden Warfares sold more on XB1 it seems. Maybe Dead Rising 4, too.
