It could of course be put down as lazy screenwriting, but the character itself was clearly designed to be a miss know it all.

Post phantom menace the Marty - stu Ness of an akin was bearable, he had decent training and there were already 4 movies establishing he was very very powerful, and even then he was more fallable than Rey.

I dont think so. She fails to bring luke back to fight the first order and fails to turn kylo ren, in fact she would’ve died if kylo didn’t betray snoke. There’s also a great deal of self doubt she experiences because of her parents abandoning her. I can understand if you think she was a mary sue in TFA, but not TLJ.
