So.  But it's not as portable as a 3DS.  And there are some games that work better as a 3DS game and not on conventional console hardware.  So some games that do function better on conventional console hardware end up on the Switch and not the 3DS.  So aesthetically and functionally, JRPGfan is correct.

It is as portable as a 3DS. Most of the time when you travel or go somewhere that you could use a gaming device, you usually have a packet or a bag with you. I never carried my 3DS in my pocket and it's not like the 3DS XL sold less cause it was less portable, it was the last 3D 3DS on the market in America if that says anything.

The thing is, the Switch brings a lot more to the table than the 3DS that was considered as a DS by many people. The amount of consumers that still plays on their DS thinking the 3DS is literally the same would shock you.

And the Switch functions as a console more than the 3DS does.

these threads always make me laugh. It's cute to see that, as always, Americans want to be the center of attention, as if that's the only region that matters.

And even then, the differences between the three in the US are miniscule. This is an example of facts being used to push a perception that's, while technically true, isn't anywhere near the story it's backing.

A voice of reason.

Things that are actually meaningful: PS4 dominates globally (especially in Europe) and Switch dominates in Japan.

I wish I could +Like this post.

Congrats to Nintendo. I guess it bodes well that 299 Switch vs 299 PS4 and Switch comes out on top. Xbox was 189 the whole holiday so no surprise it beat 299 PS4.

Switch is new and novel. PS4 is 4 years old. Not even remotely a fair or close comparison.

Are you going to say this in every NPD? Because NPD have always been popular. With the Switch in the market, it just got interesting again.

If you don't like the NPD, then don't even comment or click the thread and complain.

I can't stand Greenberg: he always trumps up a bunch of spin.

It's so annoying; I'll just wait for Nintendo, Sony, or NPD to announce something.

It looks like Switch did somewhere around 1.5m.  I'm so relieved.  November was a terrible month, so glad to see them recover. I still don't completely understand what happened in November, but that's water under the bridge.

I've wanted to every time I see an article about it. It's absurd that people use NPD to act like things are doing better than they are just because they have a home field advantage (Xbox One, for example).

Yep, cause switch will do even better in the next few years.

Yes it will, and I hope it does because it's amazing. I'm still willing to bet that, lifetime sales, PS4 will still best it by a significant margin.

America is far and away the largest market. Ignoring it would be absurd.

Well we can compare it to the first 2 Christmas of the PS4 then (since you all can't figure out which one is the real first one).

Anyway, it outsold both worldwide.
