Why do people keep saying this, the whole year counts if the holiday season only counted then PS4 wouldn't be at 75m to X1's 35m the sales numbers say that all year performance most counts.

I wasn't talking about global sales. We are talking about about American sales where the margin is 20 million to about 22 million. Clearly the holiday sales are more important than you think.

Look at what the situation is though US from the day MS first entered consoles has always been their strongest region yet they're still behind by 4m according to this site with an ever increasing gap each year they even had a new sku launch and an exclusive game launch as well while PS4 didn't yet stayed close. If the Holiday is what counts then it speaks volumes about the PS4 beating the X1 in its strongest region with accumulated sales from the whole year.

What suggest it?

Anyway, we already have a good vision of numbers.

XB1 sold 91% of Switch sales, PS4 72%, and 3DS 50%.

This mean the numbers are those i posted on ERA:

https://www.resetera.com/posts/3196163/

The 3DS did well then.

What is Switch's total when October, November and December are tallied up? 2.5m?

Not official, but i have those estimate for Switch:

October - 295K

November - 775K

December > 1.42m

So yeah, ~2.5m is likely right

For MS having such a disaster of a console launch and minimal exclusives along with poor marketing, it is actually a lot more impressive that XBO is even competitive in the US and rather close in total sales to PS4.

Give credit where credit is due.

Way to go Switch and look at the XB1 getting number 2! Good month for all!

This

Sorry don't know how to embed twitter

Two things.  A) don't put the period. It throws things off.

b) You can not currently embed twitter comments. That feature has been turned off due to issues with the site.

I however embedded the image IN the tweet.

"I just double checked and Aaron is 100% correct, Microsoft did have the highest Share in December."

Since you seem to have some knowledge of posting mechanics, how does one embed a YouTube video without ending up with just a broken iframe?

He never took credit away.....Just pretty much put it out that the US is MS strongest territory and that while the Holidays are important they are no more or less important that the rest of the year as well.

Its in their strongest region though that's not as much of an achievement, Wii U was a disaster yet in Japan it fought the PS4 blow for blow before the Switch arrived because that's Nintendo's strongest region.

The Christmas shopping season is the most important time of the year. There is a reason PS4 has only sold like 2 million more consoles than XBO in total in the US despite coming ahead in just about every NPD. It is because MS gets aggressive during the holiday season when it counts most.

People can hate on MS all they want here, but they are among the most successful corporation in the world for a reason.

Why do people keep saying this, the whole year counts if the holiday season only counted then PS4 wouldn't be at 75m to X1's 35m the sales numbers say that all year performance most counts.

This was Microsoft's excuse when the Xbox one was being out sold by the PlayStation 4 during the year. Whatever year Microsoft made that announcement prior to the Christmas shopping season, the PlayStation 4 ended up outselling to Xbox One anyway. It was more shotty PR from Aaron Greenberg as usual.

That was sarcasm because I was mocking Aaron Greenberg's past PR attempts.

So it’s confirmed? I was sure it would be revealed Xbone was in third.

That PUBG thirst.

edit, PS4 might not have had an official temporary price cut in December but I remember lots of retailers selling it for $199 Cyber Monday and beyond, at least Walmart and Target in that last case. Hell, I bought one from Walmart for $199 in mid December for my mother in law to give as a gift.

Xbones you could find for as low as $180 easily for the Halo 5/MCC bundle.

But PS4 raised its 199$ back to 249-299$ really soon...
while the Xbox One basically kepts its low price until now (seemingly going on forever).

Playstation 4 sales could have been better in the end of the holidays if PS4 prices where kept low, instead of going back so soon.
