Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Thoughts on the Switch's current 2018 Q1-Q2 lineup?

In the grand scheme of things it should be decent enough to maintain sales momentum, as the Wii U ports/remasters are new games to most people. For me as someone who's played those games already, it's pretty weak sauce, but I'll survive.

Pretty decent incomplete list.

Will take a while until 3rd parties catch up on the success of the Switch.

I actually love it that Nintendo are slow on showing use the release dates... I hate seeing trailers 2-3 years ahead.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

It's ok. Not great but enough games to keep some interest. That said nothing compared to the 2017 lineup which had big hit after big hit. I think we will see more ports announced for this year for sure but it really needs some new stuff to fill the appetite of gamers.

Well, only Bayonetta for me.

If Mario Tennis has motion controls, then I’m ALL OVER that one!

• Kirby I’ll get since it’s basically my favourite 2D platformer series since the DKC trilogy; but the Yoshi game actually looked more interesting to me.

• Dark Souls, I honestly don’t know anything about this game except that people like it. I wanna see more.

• Dragon Quest Builders is a must have for me.

• I’m intrigued by Fe, but like almost all these games, I want to see more.

• The World Ends With You and King of Fighters are cool, but only as budget titles since you can basically already get earlier similar games elsewhere for cheap.

• YS VIII And Celeste - again, I wanna see more about this game. They didn’t show enough.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

It's a nice mixture for me. A couple of games I'll happily rebuy to either support the franchise (Bayonetta) or because I didn't buy the DLC/3DS version (Hyrule Warriors); a few titles that are new to me (Dragon Quest Builders, Mario Tennis: Aces) plus a great game I've never played in the shape of Dark Souls.

For the first 5 months of the year, that's a good start. When you factor in things like Lost Sphear and Kirby (I'll wait on reviews for these two), plus something like Ys VIII for the summer (which I want), the line-up already has a lot of appeal for me. Add in indie games, DLC, titles yet to be announced, as well as stuff like Wolfenstein 2 and Yoshi, which might end up in the spring window, and I'll be quite happy.

There's nothing huge - but the line-up is beginning to flesh out nicely.

It's not bad. 2017 will be a tough act to follow, but so far it looks like they're maintaining at least 1 marquee first or third party game a month pace. Even if some of them aren't all that exciting. And the eShop looks like it'll remain very strong.

Nintendo still has a ton of horses in the stable. Metroid Prime 4, Animal Crossing, Super Mario Brothers (or Maker), Pokemon, Fire Emblem, Virtual Console (however that ends up happening), and Super Smash Brothers.

Would have rather had Hyrule Warriors 2...guess I will buy this for the 3rd time...

Will lrobably get Donkey Kong, Bayo collection, Kirby, and Dark Souls as well.

Ys VIII is for sure later as is Wolfenstein 2 and Fire Emblem.......

No I have to budget somewhere, gonna be broke for a bit...sigh...

So, that's 5 months with pretty much nothing, right?
Those titles might be good for those who already have a console, but not sell it to new costumers.

Not a single system seller.

Well I mean, they already have Mario and Zelda.
