This sounds too good to be true. Its like more stuff to do. More Weapons to fight, a combat system that combines functions from Star Ocean and FF12. All cities from original to explore and now those are even bigger.
The only bad thing is that it splitted to 3 parts. Its like Starcraft 2, when the last episode came nobody cared anymore.

That was the point wasn't it? They want to remake it bigger and better, wich is why it's divided in 3. Even in the PSX presentation we were already seeing stuff that wasn't in the original.

But i agree. While i think that the remake may be able to meet expectations in terms of quality, the format will make it lose popularity as it's truly not a trilogy but 1 game chopped in 3.

I'd be ok with it if they let us merge the 3 at the end. Also, it raises problems over how the save file/levels/materia/items will transfer over. Some people may just level all the way to 99 before episode 2 even releases, completely breaking the game.

I wonder if FFVII Episode I will end up being a cross-gen title for PS4 and PS5...maybe one of the launch games for the PS5?

From what I remember of FFVII, I was thinking they´d end episode I after the first battle with the Jenova boss, when Cloud and his team are headed to another continent.

Is this cause you think the game wont release for another 3 years or because you are expecting PS5 for next year?

I see quite a few people with that expectation of the PS5 and i think it's total financial suicide to go back to 5 year cycles. I will be very surprised if we see it come out before fall 2020.

The only danger aspect to it is Microsoft. Given they aren't winning, they may want to jump the ship to the next gen hoping for another 360 tirade. But i'm sure Sony won't be caught with their pants down again.

To be honest, when it comes to SquareEnix and development/release dates I´ve come to expect the worst, they´re a mess in that department.I expect the PS5 to be unveiled in 2020, about two years from now, and released during fall of the same year, that´d make it a 7 year period between 2013 when the PS4 was released and 2020, which is very reasonable, so I could see Square releasing episode I in that year, but I hope I´m wrong and it´s released next year.

Are you saying Sony hasn't made a shitload of money off the PS4 already?

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

If this is true, how are they handling the summons. If battles are seamless and no interruptions, how are summon cinematic will be handled?

Never played any finalfantasy before so i think its going to be a good idea to start with ff7r.

Square is going to fuck this up, so bad. I'm almost 100% sure of it.

It obviously has, wich is why theres no reason to reset the generation early for them (or anyone. The later years of the generation is the time to make the most sales in software). A pro 2 might make more sense.

Think about it aswell. Sony studios would need to have started development in ps5 games already. Theres just no way. If gens become this fast with game development becoming longer, each team will only manage to release 2 games per gen.

I'm hearing that the same guy that leaked this previously said that Square was releasing a FF15 sequel in 2018, which seems highly unlikely given that Tabata has since announced a 2nd season of DLC for FF15 in 2018. I'm calling fake on this one.

The Action Turn Battle system he describes would be cool though for future mainline games though, a nice compromise for fans of both the FF15 style action combat and fans of the older ATB system.

That's why they're sticking now with familiar architecture. PS5 will have the same so game development can begin long before the final specs are known. BTW that's how it's always done. PS4 games were made before developers knew what kind of specs the final console will have.

Gens are an outdated model and the only thing that's against that model is platform holder's profit margin. Because after all we know it's not enough to make some money, you have to make all of the money...

If true then the battle system isn't as bad as I had feared. Would still need a wait/pause option for me, but it might actually be playable.

Agreed. It seems to be the best of both Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy wrapped into a nice little package.
