I've not played the game myself.  But, I was excited to get my hands on it, until a friend of mine told me pretty much exactly this.

What actually is your definition of mediocre? I have a PS4 Pro on a 55" 4k and it's definitely way above mediocre. What are you expecting, a Holodeck-type experience?

It’s the pure lower pixel count those people critisize, even though the added immersion and 3D easily makes up for it imho. I started gaming with an Atari 2600, I could care less about a few pixels and I don’t even own a Pro yet. The feeling of actually being there is so much more than watching the game happen on a screen. I’ve played RE7 in 4K HDR but I’d always prefer to play it on my base PS4 and PSVR. To be able to look in your girlfriend’s eyes while she’s terrified, as if she was real, it’s indescribable.

I’d also happily play GTS fully in VR if it was available, despite the noticeably lower quality. It’s disappointing the mode is so limited and the A.I. Is so slow, yes. The experience is not!

Then you're missing out big time. It is true the quality in graphics goes down but it takes time for your eyes to get acustomed with VR in general and after they do it doesn't really matter, the experience of being there is what should be focused on and as someone who has put over 1k into console Sim racing this gen, this little sliver of GT sport is my favourite by far. It is a pity with the content, surely but to not try this simply because of the graphics is a bad decision.

The Vr content in GTsport is barely worthy of being called a demo, not much to miss out on really.  And no amount of eyes getting accustomed will help with the sub par graphics for anyone that enjoys the eye candy mines of modern games.

PS5 is Vr's time, right now id call PS VR in high end demo stage.

Imagine if the next PSVR can also output HDR, which also very well included in Gran Turismo Sport

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

I'm not following how this applies to Gran Turismo sport VR.

Is it better than DriveClub VR? I tried the demo and it gave me a head ache.

In that regard yes, it is, much better but it is bare bones content wise. It's more of an experience than a game. Taking out the prototype Bugatti on the Nurbergring for example with a wheel and forgetting you are in a room is why I think it is so groundbreaking. The immersion factor is so beyond anything I've ever seen before that my brain is tricked into sending me signals of the sunlight hitting my skin or the smell of freshly cut grass. There is a sense of ambience within each car and the detail is on par with the main game, if not higher since you are IN THE CAR. I've repeatedly tried to reach out and touch things in VR but here in GT sport VR I get tricked so much it's hard to tell which is which between my real life wheel setup and the in game cockpit. Simply put, it's a treat just needs more content, maybe add VR in the GT league and I'd be happy.

I couldn't have said it better. The thing that really gets me is just how well they have captured each car. I have a C3 Corvette, I have driven a few F-150's, and Subaru WRX's, and it is incredible how accurate each vehicle  is represented. The feeling of the weight, the way the car shifts when you corner and brake, it is all so well represented that you can almost instantly forget you are in VR.

Like you said, the the settings (although rough in raw graphics) are so well crafted that you really feel like you are there. As I said, driving the Cobra around on the Big Willow in the afternoon with fine weather, actually takes you to southern California. You feel like it is a beautiful sunny summer day, and even when it is 03:00 with snow on the ground, it brings you all the happiness of summer.

I hope they expand the VR portion greatly over time. More day time tracks with fine weather, I'd like some rain as well. Then let me run laps for hours in time trials.

After playing GTS and Ultrawings, I just want a GTA now. A giant open world to drive, bike, fly, and even run around. We are closing in on the point where you will be able to throw on a VR device, and enjoy a couple of hours of perfection regaurdless of what else is happening around you, and that has always been my dream.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

So much this. I sign every word of this :)

Have you tried driveclub vr? Any similarities to that game? I heard that one requires a barf bag in your lap, but has anyone played the two, and are they starkly different in terms of visuals/barf potential?

I've played Driveclub VR for a couple hundred of hours and finished every accolade in the game. I already played the original game a ton yet never went as far as completing every manfufacturer's accolade or online.

In DriveClub you actually sit in the car while in GTS your viewpoint always stays level independent of the car movement. DriveClub is more believable in banked turns and steep hills, while GTS is a bit more comfortable since the orientation of the car does not effect your vision.

Driveclub allows you to adjust your seat, up down left righ to get the best match. In GTS you are stuck in the default position. DriveClub also allows you to stick your head out the window (although it doesn't open) and you can take a closer look at the inside of the car. GTS blacks out the screen if you move your head too far.

GTS' car interiors are more detailed and the dashboard is a lot easier to read. In DC you have to lean forward to read the in car instruments. In GTS you can see them pretty well from the default position.

DriveClub is drastically cut back in visuals, low res, half track side detail removed, no weather nor dynamic lighting (you can still start at any time of day). GTS also loses it's refined lighting of the 2D version, no shadows on most tracks, less choices for time of day, but it does retain the low hanging fog patches on the Nuremburg ring which is pretty cool to drive through. GTS looks sharper overall.

DriveClub offers the full content although with a cutback campaign. You don't get all the campaign additions from the DLC but you do get the full compliment of tracks including the new city tracks for all 6 locations. That's 42 unique tracks with 114 layouts. GTS only has 17 unique tracks with 40 layouts. Both allow you to drive all cars. DriveClub has 8 cars on track in single player, 6 in online multiplayer (hard to find a match nowadays though) GTS only has one AI car on track that doesn't race you. They mostly just move over to let you pass, no idea what the point is. You're also restricted to 2 laps.

DriveClub VR is a game, GTS VR is just a demo.

Then you have Dirt Rally which sits in between in terms of visuals, better than DC but with crude in car details. It is the full game as well in VR yet has less content than DC. It does still have daily and weekly challenges to keep it interesting. DC of course has the user generated challenges which are still ongoing. Dirt Rally has better outside detail than GTS and is the only one that has weather.

Depends what car you use. Driving the Nordschleife in a Samba bus is pretty comfortable.
