NA is an impressive market for all consoles.

This is what happens when instead of everyone buying 5 houses they can't afford and creating a housing bubble, they spend the money they do have on gaming instead. Let's hope this also doesn't eventually lead to a crash.

Outside of Japan, Switch is basically selling at the same level as the XB1. Not sure if this is somewhat due to supply constraints or if momentum for the Switch has slowed. I've been predicting a Switch slowdown for 2018, but it may have already started.

Thats the difference between a $400 box and a $300.

I am beginning to think this is going to  be the PS4s peak year though... don't see how its gonna top this year next year.

Yea I don't see it happening too. Switch will have a bigger presence than last year and probably discounts and bundles at the end of the year. While PS4 already had the pro close to 2017, the slim model got huge discounts during the end of the year, it had so many bundles with the biggest franchises, games have been announced for a while, if you wanted the games coming you would probably have gotten the PS4 at the end of 2017 when it was cheap.. Sony's exclusives don't really boost sales of their platforms it's mainly big AAA and at this point the next COD/FIFA won't have the same impact.

I don't think it will fall off in 2018 but I don'T see it topping 2017.

This is similar to what was said in 2016/early 2017.

PS4 again over 1 million? impressive!.

I can understand why some people think 2017 will be its peak year, after all looking at those numbers its hard to imagine it doing better this year, however its true that it will get bigger exclusives in 2018 and if it gets a price cut at 199 as well then... yeah it might have a shot at surpassing last year (but in my opinion only if a price cut happens).

At least i do think 2017 may indeed be the year that delivered the best games on the system, or at least the one that delivered the biggest amount of great games on the system.

It will be a tall order to grow over 2017, but I would be please if it happen.

PS4 is a monster! Really hurting the European Switch sales with cheapest bundles.

Switch for some reason is much more expensive in europe than in the US.

Right now Switch is like 2499 kr (~403$ US) here... its too much.

PS4slims can be found for like 250-290$ (depends on offers).

I dont understand why Nintendo is so much more expensive in europe than say in the US.

since 1 - 2 months i didn't heard of supply problems, so i don't think it could be the reason

Wasn't Switch supposed to have December in the pack, or at least sell as much as PS4? That was what many here stated. And "only" double the PS4 sales in Japan. Looks like the PS4 can do some "cannibalization" too.

Sounds like someone doesn’t know about the supply constraints there

The only thing I know for certain going by Famitsu numbers is that Switch was at 13.2 million as of their announcement on 24th December which means switch has another 3 million to add in the next two updates on VGC.

3.3 million x 4 = 13.2 million.

Yeah, I'm sure the total doesn't work. Nintendo announced 10 million sold already, and many assumed it was by December 1st or close, so it should be at least 10.5-10.7 million now for a regular Holiday week.

The numbers don't add up on VGC.

I don't know who this many you talk about are... being that Nintendo announced 10M sold as of December 10th... don't know why any would assume they meat the sold that number by December 1st or even 3rd as opposed to by December 9th which would have marked the end of the week before that 10M announcement.

Because you don't collect that kind of global data in a fucking day.

Lol, this is blatantly false.

It's not the holidays where the Xbox One struggles, but the rest of the year.

Also Vgchartz figures aren't official.
