Forums - Politics Discussion - The Next Rosa Parks?

After being inexplicably removed from a Girls Night In show hosted by comedian Iliza Shlesinger, men's rights activist George St. George knew that he had to sue for the sake of his oppressed brethren. It is something he does routinely. He has been the plaintiff in a number of suits challenging "ladies nights" at bars and other public establishments.

St. George's lawyer, Alfred Rava, has made a career out of filing such suits. He has already filed 150 complaints accusing California businesses of violating the Unruh Civil Rights Act of 1959. Rava is a former secretary of the National Coalition of Men, a San Diego-based non-profit whose web site gripes about "false" rape accusations, supposed father's rights discriminations, the "myth" that men don't do their fair share of the housework, and "the current sexual abuse hysteria" (i.e. the Me Too movement). "At no time should an entertainer or an entertainment venue require female patrons or male patrons sit in the back of the theater based solely on their sex," Rava said in an email discussing the tyranny, transparently comparing his activist client to Rosa Parks. These are the sorts of oppressions that men face at the hands of an culture of hysterical misandry, not unlike those horrid women-only screenings of the Wonder Woman movie last year at select theaters.

Personally, I do not believe that Mr. George is quite Rosa Parks because I do not believe that Girls Night In is quite apartheid, but maybe you feel differently. What do you think? Ladies night events: the next civil rights issue?

Who's Rosa Parks?

Here's some info on Rosa Parks for those who don't live in the United States.

I don't really understand why the double standard is considered okay, to be honest. Male only clubs have been under attack for awhile but female only venues have been springing up without complaint. They're either both okay or neither is okay.

I'm also getting sick of those who think no one should ever complain about an issue faced by men or boys. They have zero idea of what equality actually means and are, ironically, the mirror reflection of those they complain about.

Seems like there would be a law against frivolous lawsuits like this

I have no idea where you're getting this nonsense from, but I observe the exact opposite to be the case. Female-only, and even just female-majority, venues are disappearing from the face of the Earth. I mean this very message board is pretty much a men-only venue, you know. :P

This guy must have a psychological need to ensure the patriarchy remains. Probably wants it to go back to what it once was. The fact he leads the National Coalition of Men (ironic as hell this even exists) proves it.

Rosa Parks you are not.

" Probably wants it to go back to what it once was"

when we sent women off to die in wars and made them do the hardest dirtiest jobs that build and maintain infrastructure?

Ah, well in that case then no, not at all comparable.

I kind of agree with him in principle, there are undoubtedly times when companies are discriminatory against men. I remember a while back there was an insurance company here in the UK that offered preferential rates for women and understandable they were forced to change that due to discrimination laws. So there are cases where he'd have a fair argument, but cases like those presented in the OP seem awfully petty and not really worth it. Considering "He has already filed 150 complaints" there's almost certainly a lot of petty stuff in there as well.

No doubt those that defend feminists when they do stupid petty stuff will attack this guy though... for doing the exact same thing that feminist extremists would. Hypocrisy at its finest.

You really have no idea to whom you are speaking, do you? :P

I am the enemy. The feminist killjoy here to ruin your life by suggesting that there exists a difference between privacy and discrimination.

anybody who can think logically understands that stuff like this is a logical conclusion of the current "women are victims and we need to bring about equal rights for them" narrative... and its only going to get worse

but yeah equating him with rosa parks is a bit dramatic

whenever you build hysteria in a group on the grounds of them being oppressed it always results in attacks on the supposed perpetrator group

extreme examples of that occurred in the soviet union and hitler's germany, for example, where hitler told the german people they were being victimised by the jews and in the soviet union the poor were told that they were oppressed by capitalists

Did you seriously just compare me to Hitler for being a feminist? :P

Alright, if you want to be antagonistic, that's cool.  What exactly are you calling nonsense?  Female only clubs?  Bullshit.  If you can't "observe" that then open your eyes.
