No one liked Donkey Kong 64 even Rare hated it. So we already got DK Odyssey. DK is a series best as 2D.

yea... you're clearly speaking for yourself there. I know lots of people that like DK64, and I'm one of them

No.I'm not.  I still have plenty of old gaming magazines at around 2000 expressing dislike and once again I will say it one last mother fucking time. Former Rare devs have expressed disappointment with the game themselves. Through forums over the last 18 years expressed mostly the same thing. Esp back in the day. Jesus fucking christ read the follow-up post.  It's not like I hate the game but it has been looked at as a mixed bag for 18 years. like Sunshine which I will say once again and the last fucking time. Is a game that is very divided.  It did put the main series on hiatus for 11 years. I'm not explaining this again so don't bother turning this topic blue.

No, 3D DK has always been terrible Stick to 2d

I wouldn't mind a new 3D DK, though I'd hope they did it substantially different from Odyssey in that case. Not that Odyssey is bad, but I don't want two of Nintendo's flagship franchises being interchangable.

I'd rather have a new Donkey Kong Country though, especially with how amazing Tropical Freeze was.

Relax dude.He is not wrong, as the game is not hated nearly that much either and it obviously has a following. No need to be stressed over this and start this year on the wrong way.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

So you want Super Mario Odyssey with some Donkey Kong skins, great. Don't worry the modding community will get there.

Excuse me, my name isn't no one. I loved DK 64! I have great memories of my me and my friends playing that game for looooong amounts of time. Fantastic game!

The problem is that, while some liked it, DK64 felt incredibly sub-par compared to Mario 64 and Banjo-Kazooie. DK hasn't made a great transition to full 3D. That isn't to say that it COULDN'T be done. However, if they tried again, personally, I really would want it to be like Mario, BK, OR DK64. I'd want them to try a different approach.

I would like a proper sequel to the original Country series.
Go back to 2D, use pre-rendered CGI sprites at a high resolution. (Should be light on hardware too.)

Hell, just do a full and complete remaster the old games for all I care.

No. Dear god no. I must be the only one on the planet who thought Odyssey was weird and too easy... no, childlike easy. I got the game for Christmas and beat it so effortlessly that it actually left a bad taste in my mouth. The entire game was more of a cake walk than a Yoshi title and that's saying a lot. The music was good, but not as iconic as it use to be. The gameplay didn't feel like Mario (possessing enemies? What is this? Geist?), the stupid suits they forced you to wear felt wrong and the difficulty was an insult to my more-than-three decades of skill. It just didn't feel like a Mario game. It felt like it was basically trying to be Sonic Adventure/Banjo and Kazooie clone with Geist's gameplay mechanic rolled into one. It felt like it was trying to be something else.

Spoiler alart

The first time in the game where I felt like I was actually somewhat playing a 3D Mario was after I had beaten it and got to Toadstools castle. Hearing SM64's music, the stars instead of moons... wearing 64-bit Mario costume? That was the first time I felt at home... like I was actually playing a main Mario title.

So, no... please, for all that is holy, do not fuck with Donkey Kong.

I'd prefer it stay as a 2D platformer. Hopefully we can see it on Switch soon.
