If it dominates in Europe, them that means it is just doing well there.

If it flops in Japan that means it is just doing OK.

At least that is what I learned from reading the past 20 posts in this thread.

There are a couple of things to consider as well......such as if it is already sold out, if it is selling above the recommended retail price or if it is being sold by third parties.

My conclusion from a consistent survey of the various Amazon threads is that the switch is still scarce in somep places.

It's kind of tough with Sony I figure. They can't afford to be as sharkish as MS and price their consoles at next to nothing all the time without it eating at the profits they're just now getting back. I think they're more concerned with MS as a competitor over Nintendo, since both companies are direct rivals with similar HD boxes. The Amazon thread won't be as lively with Sony not really wanting to complete in price wars, and Xbox dying on the vine. I guess they're at a place now that whatever happens, happens, since they have a metric ton of systems out there already.

I feel there should at least be some effort to move the PS4 toward $249 at least though.

I agree with this.
Its time for sony to cut the price officially either down to 249$ or 199$.

Sony should be trying to break that old PS2 record of sales, instead of just thinking profits short-term.
Would like to see them do another 20m this year.

It's a testament that they are still selling the thing at such a high price especially when you'd think production costs are very low at this point.

And they are tight to maximise profits, the more money they make the more they can invest in exclusives and third party deals.

At over 70 million it's not getting crushed at all. Sony is running a marathon like they always do. Not sprinting just to make that 100 million milestone. $199 Black Friday deal was too good of a price to keep the product on the shelves. $249 might prolong it's value though. I'm down for that. And a $349 pro.

Nah, Sony just wants to milk the current MSRP to maximize profits. Sony has a shipment target and the lack of a price cut thus far indicates that the PS4 is still selling according to plan.
