Forums - General Discussion - There is only 1 person alive from the 19th century left...

My bad. 1901 is the start of the 20th century. And yes there are people Alive older than Guinness want to recognise.

Where the confusion comes in is the Millennium being celebrated  in 2000 and that was really because of prince , public misconception and governments taking the easy way out , but mainly prince.

Well it's more special to go from a 1(000) to a 2(000) though.

If the Guinness Record Book doesn't want to recognise them, it's either because they don't want to be recognised or because there isn't any proof for their claim. But if there isn't any proof, how would you know that they're actually as old as they claim? The vast majority of the people who claim to be 130 don't look nearly as old as the people in the World Record Book.

You mean except for that one guy in Argentina.

That's pretty cool. I wonder will there be anybody who was born in the year 1900 left alive who still existed in the previous century because he or she was in their mothers stomach.

Is this kind of thing that is both fascinating and scary. For example, when The Last Tommy (Harry Patch) died in 2009 it meant that he was the last person to actually remember the war first hand, fighting it and living it. People like this dieing mean that those events are lost of books and other records, not real memories.

Hmm, pie.

If I aged at a tenth of the normal rate I'd be worried a) that I might be taken and experimented on, plus b) think people might kill me out of jealousy so if there is someone who is 400 years old but looks like 40 years old I wonder if we would actually know about him or her they may have changed identity a few times. Alternatively someone may have already developed a serum to extend life but it cannot be released because then the planet's resources would be consumed even faster with a huge fall in the death rate. It might be limited to a privileged few. Even if that hasn't happened yet it could in a few years.
