Forums - Gaming Discussion - I think the Sega Genesis HD flash back is better than SNES classic.

Looks snes classic...looks to genesis flash back...They both miss so many games......

Just give me another one of those PS3/360 genesis collections but then on this gen consoles and add a few more games.  If I remember the one on last consoles had between 40-50 of them for a nice price.

The benefit of the Genesis Flashback, though, is the cartridge slot. Doesn't have a game you want? eBay!

Doesn't matter either way, SNES has A Link to the Past and Yoshi's Island so the Mega Drive thingy could have a thousand games and be of gold for all I care.

Glad you like it but I still don't get why anyone would purchase those types of systems with so many emulators for free...and roms. Even on consoles marketplaces. There's just too many options.

Not to mention the ability to play these games with an XBOX ONE controller....I did like the Sega 6 button when I had one...but...you know...

I'd take the sega genesis 6 face buttons and dpad over most consoles.  I got an xbox one controller before, for my PC games.  I wanted the buttons to be uniform, and match the controller itself....  However, I ended up replacing it for another PS4 controller, because it was impossible to play fighting games properly.

I'm still waiting for the console that gives us 6 face buttons and 4 shoulder buttons

But, I can't do emulation.  Not unless it's 100% perfect, and the only time I've ever known it to be was through the sega genesis collection on steam.  But, I noticed random frame drops, and it bugged me so much, I still ended up going back to my real sega consoles.

Same case for sega saturn.  I've seen youtube videos of people playing mega man 8, and the emulation has issues.  Not even worth talking about dreamcast.  I wish it had more games.

Perhaps some day, there will be a "new" genesis that I can stand behind.  Until then, I have my original console, and over 80 games on the thing.

Six button was the shht. That with any fighting game and life was easy.

I get what you're saying about emulators not being up to par with those flashbacks but they don't bother me. I'm also a frugal person so that has something to do with it too.l

True (still have my original genesis tho).

I also have mine (Model 3), but it's nice to retire it to display purposes only and make use of more reliable technology.

The funny thing is I prefer the actual snes over the actual genesis (both great consoles). Regarding these retro throwback consoles, I just think the sega genesis flash back is better value.

Value is of course subjective.
The build quality of the Genesis is severely lacking.

Sounds like you're having more success with it than anybody I've ever interacted with. My buddy in particular absolutely could not stand it, and he's a pretty accepting dude when it comes to problems.

Not in my opinion. You said you had sound issues, but I haven't experience this issue at all being completely 100% honest. I know it isn't 100% perfect, but it does it's job well.

Maybe something is up with the pal regions or they have an un updated version of it. The updated version works pretty well. You can check the youtuber in the OP. He actually play some of the games and they all sound great and play great (with a few hitches here and there).

My buddy lives in an NTSC region, and also actually has a video talking about how terrible it is from the past couple months. It just seems like it's an unreliable platform, going by the slowly-growing-to-mixed opinion on it.
