My man!

Those are my #1 and #2. We are going to get along well over the next four months :D

Same here, I really love the whole Cap trilogy.  One thing they have consistently done is surprise me with how good these movies are.  I didn't even really think much of Captain America as a character before the first movie.  Then after the first movie I'm like, "Wow! That was extremely well done.  I think I like this movie even more than the first Iron Man."  Then Winter Soldier comes out, and I'm like, "Wow that was even better than the first Cap."  Then Civil War.  "What?  This is even better again?  How is this even possible?"

I have been geeking out over Infinity War for months now.  The Russo brothers are directing it, and they also directed both Winter Solder and Civil War.  Infinity War is going to rock!

Yeah, it's one of the rare trilogies where each installment is better than the last. Actually, is there another trilogy that achieves that?

And yes, the Russo bros. are the best thing to happen to MCU, outside of Feige of course :)

I was just planning on rewatching the entire MCU before the task got too daunting to take on. You can definitely count me in!

Awesome!

The Bourne trilogy imo got better with each movie

Well to be fair the Captain America trilogy isn't much of a trilogy, really (that and I don't think Civil War is as good as Winter Soldier, but well).

Of course I also disagree with the other statement, but well, that seems to be an opinion I'm ever more alone on.

Agreed

Starting Iron Man in a few.

I’ll do a before and after.

Before: I ranked Iron Man very highly after my initial watch. In fact, it stayed in the #1 slot for a long, long time. Right now it’s ranked #3. I really enjoyed its focus on character development, the chemistry among its stars, and its clever and snappy dialogue.

See you in a couple hours!

Right, I suppose I'll do a before and after as well. I think, just based off my memory of the first Iron Man, I would put it in the top 4 Marvel movies I've seen. It's right up there for me with the first Avengers, Winter Soldier, and the first Guardians. Not sure the exact order I'd put them in, but those are definitely the 4 I remember the most fondly. Robert Downey Jr. really kind of embodies the MCU even to this day, I think. The fun, cocky sort of swagger of the actor, and the character he plays is something Marvel really nailed in this movie, and took forward in one way or another with all the movies that followed it.

I technically still have Iron Man as my number one. We’ll see if that changes. Although it’s kind of sad to think they peaked right out of the gate. Downey was fantastic casting. It just felt fresh and brighter than what had come over the past few years. 2008 was the year of the superhero film. Incredible Hulk, The Dark Knight, Hancock, Hellboy II all come out within a few months of each other that summer. But Iron Man kicked it off well. The dialogue, action and plot were all well rounded. I think it’s clearly the blueprint they’ve tried to emulate which unfortunately gives a lot of character intro films a very paint-by-numbers feel. See you all on the other side!

I favor Ang Lee's Hulk

Just finished. Better than I remembered. Still in the #3 slot but could rise based on later rewatches.

My only complaint: the climactic battle. It just feels perfunctory, and some of the dialogue is right out of the super villain handbook.

Other than that, excellent across the board. Inspired casting, great dialogue, awesome chemistry, solid direction/editing, and a redemption arc that works. The action, however brief, is effective and personal. Just an outstanding way to kickstart a multi-movie experiment.

8/10
