So, i still haven't commented on Ant-man but I just haven't seen it in a while so can't. I remember it but not well enough.

But Thor 3, I haven't seen since the cinema wither but luckily that wasn't long ago.

Thor: Ragnorak was enjoyable, fun and funny. It had it's issues still though. The music of 80s synth was great, the colours great, the character interaction for most the film great. Executioner was near spot on from the comics to film, lack of Enchantress took from his character but he worked well in the film. Grandmaster was fun, the cross of 'planet hulk' was clever. Valkyrie was fine but didn't seem much like the comic version. The film was very funny.

Bad though, side characters killed off in seconds. Film could have been called Thor: You don't need the hammer (Much like Spider-man: You aren't the suit, or Iron-Man 3: You aren't the suit). The music in the scene where he uses his powers without the hammer didn't fit the rest of the film. No Balder or Enchantress.

Overall a good film and enjoyed it more than the first 2.

I think some people may not have seen it yet. Maybe just block out the part I did above. But I do agree with your negative redacted criticism. It was pretty ham-fisted and given no real emotional weight or even acknowledged I think. Be doing my rewatch this weekend so more then

Thank you good sir!

When the credits rolled I remember thinking "What was that?" in shock. I had thought Iron Man 3 would safely be MCU worst offering, but Thor 3 became the new bottom of the barrel.

I think the biggest flaw rests on the director and the tone, mainly the unfunny nature of the script. It wasn't just that the jokes didn't land, it was that they were all painfully anti humor. I have a nephew and when he was younger he'd find something funny like an obnoxious sound from a rubber chicken. He'd laugh squeezing it for hours and I had to take it away because it was never funny to start and it became grating and annoying quickly. That is what this felt like watching Thor 3. This is the only Marvel movie ever I didn't laugh once watching. It is a movie embarrassed by itself similar to comic book movies 20 years ago that would joke about their subject matter "you expect yellow spandex?"

Moving on the story is a mess with two main lines creating weaker narrative as opposed to focusing on one. It could have worked to have Hulk 2 featuring Thor on the arena planet be a "Planet Hulk" movie and then later do a "Ragnarok" movie where Hulk comes back with Thor. Instead we kill off Odin, Fandral, Hogun, and Volstagg and one of my favorite characters in Sif is just mind wiped from everyone. The lack of concern with slaughtering the whole supporting cast shows the contempt in this film. Unfortunately we get Korg and Valkyrie, characters with no redeeming qualities that I hated within minutes of meeting them both "little rock paper scissors joke there" ugh... Capped with what could have been the most emotionally impactful scene in Thor undercut by riffing humor. To give an idea of how bad this movie is, it got me to dislike a Jeff Goldblum character because everyone is doing a bit, so as opposed to standing out as odd he just becomes a part of the white noise of ametuer improv comedy. No one felt like a person, they were all actors goofing off, so why should I care about any of this?

Thor 3 - 1/10 - Among the worst super hero movies I've seen with Elektra, Batman and Robin, Ghost Rider, and Catwoman.
