My religion is the only true religion.

Religion plays a vital part in human evolution. Simplifying it with right and wrong argumentation is... false.

Nobody questions its impact. The debate is whether it was and is for the better or worse.

That´s true for every religion and even for atheism.

Because most people cannot function otherwise.

But people do function right now, not to get into "heaven", it's called money. We live now in a consumerist society more than anything else, while religion did impact people for centuries, right now and ever since world war 1 people function for money.

Religion, on the other hand, is deeply rooted, like it or not, in the morals of society.

People have always only been driven by selfish desires, long before there was money. Because what is money if not something you exchange for happiness. Believing in a religion itself is for completely selfish reasons because it gives you closure. You also have to eat less because you don't waste energy on critical thinking.

Religion is a logical conclusion to human's and all organisms' primitive desires. Just one more way to achieve happiness and bliss. You could say that atheists are behaving irrationally because they're depriving themselves from easy additional happiness but they do get their fix somewhere else, so it's fine. What I'm saying money and religion serve the exact same purpose, just like smug atheists going on forums and lecturing believers is for their selfish self fulfillment.

The problem with religion though is that it holds back progress and as such advancements that could make our lives even better and be more efficient at producing happiness.

People need something to believe in. You have a choice. If you don't agree don't bother. That simple. Rotting in hell should be meaningless to you. God exist. Are the Christians right? Who knows....but let them be regardless. It shouldn't bother you.

It would be nice if people just let people be, sadly everyone thinks they have a right to impose their beliefs on others, this is especially true of most religious groups. We have had a gut full of the various Christian groups in Australia trying to impose their beliefs in the laws of the land and from what I see it is the same the world over regardless of religion.

Opinion on this quote by CS Lewis?

My take is isn't that true for any religion? I won't go to the extreme of no importance but only death can tell us which was right I'm sorry but I believe in an omnipotent omniscient omnipresent and everything God not an old man in the sky and if he doesn't wanna be found ain't nothing we can do to find evidence of his existence. So if any religion is right than we will know or not know since if atheists are right there will be nothingness and if Hindus are right we will reincarnate until we get to nirvana. If Muslims are right we will be in the in-between until the day of judgement and so on and so forth with Christianity Judaism Buddhism Japanese religions etc etc etc. That is why I believe and I don't know. Anyone who says science can disprove God or prove Him is mistaken it'd be like mario figuring out shigeru miyamoto is his creator and he is just in a video game but so much more difficult since miyamoto is a human not an ever present ever lasting all powerful entity who exists outside the realms of any universe and is bound by no physical laws
