yes because the box office is the greatest measure of equality.

Some of the post in this thread are terrible.
Op- Good to see those movies doing well. I'm a fan of almost all of them.

It obviously is... because when I go to see Star Wars, I’m obviously just supporting it because it has a female lead and not because it has jedis and lightsaber battles...

wow amazing, women can act in things.

next up, how about you break each movie down by who wrote and directed by gender. or who created each franchise. remind me, was it a man or woman who created stuff like Wonder Woman and Star Wars?

so yes, congrats women. you can watch men create massive franchises, cry sexism so you get put in roles at men's expense, and then make some money. truly superior

oh, and women are the majority of moviegoers

Why are you so upset about this?

i'm just pointing out some facts

why is it ok to talk about how women RULE something by looking at a topic in a really myopic way, but not acceptable to look at the wider picture where men "RULE"?

So, are you trying to argue that women haven't directed/written as many films as men because they're inferior? If not, wouldn't that be an acknowledgement of sexism in the film industry?

Star Wars could have starred a cat and it would have been on that list.

The audience has spoken, we want more action movies starring cats. Hopefully the cats talk and and they promote it with a popular song involving the word cat.

OT: Obviously this is a good thing for the sake of diversity, but it seems like the more attention we draw to it, the more we're treating this as an exception and not the rule. Ideally the gender of your lead character shouldn't be a selling point, but I suppose that's not gonna change anytime soon.

Personally, I'm less concerned with gender than how the characters are written. The girl in the new Star War was about as interesting as a sack of potatoes.

I'm saying men have achieved more, and pointing it out is sexist, but cherry picking some bullshit about women supposedly being better is acceptable and even encouraged.

and no, i don't think it is because of sexism. men simply create more things, shown not only in movies but across society

You're looking way too deep into this. Some of the most successful movies in recent years have Female roles, it's not about who rules or anything like that. There are movies that are very successful that Men have lead roles and the IP was created by a Women.
