Yeah, the whole thing is overblown in the west. We should focus on places where it’s really a problem, like in the middle east.

I have a slightly different hypothesis, which I call the Disney hypothesis.  This hypothesis states that Disney is kicking ass at the box office and all of the other studios are breathing their exhaust.  Let's see how many of the movies in OP are Disney.

Disney has spoken. 

This might look like people really want movies with female leads, but the truth is that people want quality big budget movies.  They can have either male or female leads and be successful.  Disney has always been known for sticking female leads into their movies even going back to Snow White (their first full length film), so now that Disney is ruling the box office, it also means that female leads will often be ruling the box office.

Actually, it does. Considering how many people voted for him, then add in the people who voted against him because of his policies, not his race, and you'll see it's not even close to the problem it was. Sure, there will always be a minority who are actual racists or sexists, but that's something that will always be true. Nor can it be policed/regulated away.

And for people to act like it's just as bad as it was in the early 1900s just for political points, as well as call someone who disagrees with their politics a racist or sexist, does nothing but harm the situation. It also turns a lot of people who disagree with you off from whatever cause you may have been trying to accomplish.

I really hate looking at these movies in this ridiculous spectrum. Especially when you can find many examples of "female lead" movies doing well in the past. These new examples are pretty silly, as they are mostly co-leads.

The Beast/Prince is just as important in Beauty and the Beast. Really, he's the only one given a real character arc. In SW, we focus just as much on Finn as we do on Rey. In fact, in TFA he's the first one we're introduced to. Hunger Games may a true example, though I haven't watched it, so I'm not sure how much they focus on the other characters. Frozen is the only one I know for sure.

I think this just shows that if you have good movie, or even a really hyped up one, like SW, you can make a boatload, at least early on. 

It's still a problem here. It makes sense to focus on it here because most of us live here, and thus have a higher potential of actually influencing change.

Star Wars is honestly a bit of a stretch in that regard. They have more of an ensemble cast with several equally important characters, both male and female, rather than a clear female lead. Otherwise you're right, at least with Wonder Woman and Beauty and the Beast.

I agree with you, sexim is a big problem in the west. Even now men still loose their jobs and even go to jail for a mere accusation on twitter. No evidence, or due process, its the problem of listen and believe. So we should focus here against the evil feminist movement.
