I also find it funny that a "Marvel movie" is used as a derogatory term here when the "audience has clearly spoken" and they love the Marvel formula.

Marvel movie is always a derogatory term, there's no other way around them. People hate them, because they're good. They especially hate the Guardians of the Galaxy ones, because they're better. It's life.

Of course, as usual, he only cuts out parts of people's posts to use as a strawman. The point I keep making is that it was a poor attempt at making a Marvel movie. A wannabe. People do like the Marvel films. But, that's what they are, Marvel. People know what to expect. They don't want Star Wars to become Marvel, especially when it's executed so poorly.

The same thing happened with JL. The DCEU isn't as popular as the MCU. So, to try to bring more people in, they made it more like Marvel. But, because it was poorly executed, and it alienated some of the fans who enjoyed the darker tone, instead of being the largest DCEU film, it performed the worst.

Yeah, all of that makes sense. I'm only being 10% serious with any post at this point, I was well and truly exhausted from this topic 3 weeks ago, let alone now.

LOL, you know you don't have to keep posting in here if you don't want to.

I'm barely posting actually. But the thread is already tagged and it keeps showing up in hot topics, so every once in a while I'll read some crap and be inclined to reply.

Gotcha. Well, keep on truckin, my friend.

The problem with disney is that for old sw fans the damage is already done. JJ cant undo whats been done on TLJ. I think that if he could be the director and writer of ep 9 things would be very different. After all he is a sw fan. Of course he can make a good movie with ep9 but it will be very difficult.
But hey, if it has a lot of explosions, plotholes, sjw dominance probably the critics will love and make another 1 billion on screens.

JJ Abrams is the director of Episode IX. He is co-writing it with Chris Terrio.

Yes, but my point is... the damage is already done... he needs to pick up after the events and characters of ep 8. Rose will be there, the Jedi will need to keep being wizards of the space with unilimited powers, luke is dead, Leia is alive, snoke is dead, the jedi girl has already done her trainning, the rebels are just 8 people. Of course, in my point of view. I know you enjoyed the movie.

From what I understand, JJ Abrams didn't exactly answer questions with Lost so not sure he'll be able to wrap things up neatly in 9. I think Johnson said there was no plan from the start.

If I remember correctly, he was the creator of lost and wrote only the first and second season. The writers were other people.

And dont remind me of Lost, please... it hurts...

Considering the guy who wrote BvS and JL is helping to write it, I'd say that movie is pretty much doomed. I'm expecting them to either try to fix things from Ep8, which these two are not capable of doing, at least competently. Or just continue on, excepting everything from Ep8, and make another wannabe Marvel film.

Yep... and this is why I say the damage is already done. And it is very sad but I lost all eager to see ep 9.

When ep 2 was released, I didnt like to movie (but enjoyed ep1. flawed but I enjoyed). But I still wanted to see ep3. I wanted to see how that story would end. But not with ep 9. And the movie about Han Solo? I dont even know when it will be released... dont care.

I dont like them. I think they are bad. Superheroes movies CAN be good, well written, with some depth etc.. I dont think Marvel movies are like that. Maybe because they need to rush to release so many of them. But most people like it, good for them.

Btw, guardians of the galaxy is one of the few that I really like from Marvel.

Seriously it's like Ep8 was trying to kill any remaining hype I had for Star Wars. Well they succeeded lol. It's like they took all the wonder and mysticism out of the lore. I truly felt bored and bummed out watching Ep8, the only entertainment I got was in anticipating how bad it was and yearning to find out if it was as lame as I had heard. It pretty much was..

I honestly have no desire of ever watching another Star Wars movie again after Ep8. The series is just not for me anymore.

Yeah it seems Disney is trying hard as possibile to kill the cash flow potential for the future films by making Episode 8.

TLJ slowly crawled its way into the top ten...
