Forums - Movies & TV - I just watched the Last Jedi and (spoiler)....

It's one of the biggest disappointment I have had for a movie. It's easily the worst Star Wars movie. The Force Awakens was at least half decent while copying the old trilogy. Obviously there will be some spoilers in my thread.

They completely ruined Luke's character, he never become a master jedi, but became a depressed hobo, weak and self destructing. He had no clue about anything, was whining for the most part of the movie and then died in a ridiculous and hopeless death.

The rest of the movie is also tragic: it's an endless combination of heroes running aways scared from the danger, some will attempt to make a diversion, one will stay behind to die in a useless way, rince and repeat.

There are just no logic at all in the plot. Why rebel captains are staying in their ships to die while they are doing nothing than waiting? Why the rebel admiral waited to die when she finally decided to kamikaze herself? Why the guy who betrayed them even started the operation when he had no clue of who they were and what they were doing?

Kylo Ren is still awful. Even after killing Snoke, he can't get any respect. And the killing of Snoke, he was so powerful he could toy with Kylo Ren but yet he is dying and we won't get any explanation of him...

So in resume, Luke's character ruined, the plot make absolutely no sense and has tragic flaws, Kylo Ren still an awful and weak character, Snoke disappearing brutally. I don't think I will watch the next with such a tragedy.

A mod or yourself might want to update the title that this contains spoilers.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

It was already written in the message but added to the title.

I can see where you're coming from, but while it was disappointing I still thought it was good with some stellar moments. The kamikaze crash and Luke force projection were higlights for me, but I didn't like the Pong or caretakers. I get why they used the puppet Yoda but (I recognise I'll probably be in the minority here) I preferred the CGI model.

Also the casino mission was jarring. Rose was a pointless exposition character who didnt need to be there. Finn, having been a main character in VII was little more than a supporting character here. The film should have the guts to allow him to die in the final battle, but chickened out in a really forced way capped off with Rose's naive hero attempt (she also should have died there but her plot armour was too strong). Reflecting on that, it just feels weighed down by needing to focus on too many characters (Rey, Kylo Ren, Luke, Poe, the Vice Admiral, Finn, Rose - all roughly in order of importance). Considering that, no wonder there was no backstory for Snoke.

There was a lot of loose ends at the end of the movie, but don't forget this is Disney. They will milk the franchise with side stories. For all we know there will be a Snoke movie detailing how he come to be.

Best Star Wars film of the Disney era. Luke was already ruined in 7, but it was so full of nostalgia noone could see it.

Basically:

Episode 7 I hated Kylo, Episode 8 I like him.
Episode 7 I hated Rey. Episode 8 I like her.
Episode 7 was a rehash. Episode 8 I didnt know what to expect.
Episode 7 crap new characters like Maz and Snoke. Episode 8 they are gone.

Muda Muda Muda Muda Muda Muda!!!!

I haven't seen the movie and don't think I will anyway as I'm not a Star Wars fan so I read the spoilers.
And heck, even though I'm no fan I think killing off Luke was one stupid idea. I thought he was gonna come back and at least be doing a hell of a lot of ass kicking. Ouch lol. I can see why the fans are giving it a ROTTEN score on rotten tomatoes. TFA at least was in the high 80's.

I thought it was a good movie overall. The Rey and Kylo vs. Snoke's royal guard scene was well done.

Kylo definitely earned  respect when he  (supposedly) killed Snoke, because now Kylo has killed off an epic hero in Han Solo and a Supreme leader in Snoke.  Though Snoke COULD still be alive since he had nasty scars before .   He might cheat death

Kylo also ruined everything Luke worked for and made him a hermit until Rey snapped Luke out of it.

Kylo redeemed himself and deserves respect from the Star Wars community.

The KYLO And REY FORCE LINK WAS INTERESTING

Rey and Kylo are the only 2 interesting characters left, however I think Poe and Finn were ok.

It is a shame Phasma died so quick...

There are no backstory of anything. Not for Rey, not for Luken not for Snoke, not for anything. The whole plot is ridiculously thin and empty. Even a meaning death like Finn was avoided while all the other people died in vain.

The whole casino planet was useless and ended in a stupid and illogical trap. I really feel like there is nothing to save this film. No strong moment at all. Rey doing nothing with Luke for half of the movie. Luke ridiculing itself.

All the fans are disappointed.

Sorry but no, Kylo Ren is still a useless cry baby with no personnality.

He has still never won a single fight. He still couln't do anything against Rey, was humiliated by Snoke and killed him by surprise but was much much weaker than him. He only killed an unarmed Han Solo, his own father.

Even the general still don't respect him and don't take him seriously.
