Forums - Gaming Discussion - GPD Win 2 handheld gaming PC for $699

^Looks like it is built for their market plus overseas. PC is big in China, and having a portable device compatible to take their games should be a nice plus.

Screen is 720p like the Switch, but battery size is more than double of that inside Nintendo's hybrid.
It has a CoreM3 inside it, which I think will make it expensive, we'll see the price next month.

They gave some hinters on performance: "For example, try playing Grand Theft Auto 5 on the GPD Win, and you’ll be stuck looking at about 20 frames per second, use the GPD Win 2 and you get 38 fps. Overwatch jumps from under 30 fps to more than 70. And DOTA 2 jumps from just over 30 fps to 70 fps."

How much do you think it would cost to get 500GB (non-SSD of course) of storage for this?

Edit: I just noticed they fixed the analog stick placement for the GPD Win 2. Analog sticks on the outside of the face buttons are much better. Otherwise you're reaching over four football fields with your thumbs just to push the analog stick to it's inwardmost position.

Edited the SSD in the previous comment, the specs already mention it has a 128GB M.2 2242 SSD.

Can't really find a 500GB one that looks to fit in the device, but you can have this to get the idea of the price:

Anyone remember the original Game Park? Back then it looked like to me what a Dreamcast would look like as a handheld.

I just checked to see if Micro SD was viable to get the storage capacity up to decent standards. As far as I can tell it would need two $50 128 GB MSD cards just to hit 384 GB storage space.

Ah, microSD. There's no 500GB yet, but the 400GB one is is only 250: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074RNRM2B/
EDIT: And 200GB just 71, which is what many Switch owners are buying to expand their memories.

Thanks that link helps a lot. The 200 GB for $70 looks like the best deal. That 400 GB one is where the cost to GB ratio starts to get crazy.

It's the premium you pay for the biggest storage capacity!

128GB is still the most cost effective size, but right now that 200GB is on offer making it the best deal.

I'd use one as a small pocketable laptop that can play some smaller or lighter games (like Cuphead or Stardew Valley) and use it more as a portable internet and office machine. My old Macbook Pro is due for a replacement anyway and I already have a decent desktop.

Much cheaper: 512 GB SSD M.2 2242 for €160 - €170:

I considered it, but at the momentm, the Win 2 has more features and has a gamepad.
