I'm surprised how much attention this election in Alabama has been receiving. Even in Canada it's been the top story the past few days.

Yea I know right?  Must not much be going on if you have to torture through hearing news about one of our worse states.

glad he lost, but damn that race was really close. like seriously almost half the Alabama population voted for Moore. wtf

How older how much more support especially from +65 year olds who lived in those times:

People should read the definition of pedophilia before calling someone that.

I know... my English sucks.

I see you are a man of culture as well.

But nowadays pedophilia is the same as the word racism. You can apply it to anything while disregarding its actual definition.

(1) Any actor who knowingly subjects another not his or her spouse to any sexual contact commits sexual assault on a child if the victim is less than fifteen years of age and the actor is at least four years older than the victim.

Is the legal definition as far as I can find it.

Which applies to the 14 year old girl Leigh Corfman who says Roy moore "took off her shirt and pants and removed his clothes. He touched her over her bra and underpants, she says, and guided her hand to touch him over his underwear."

Is that the definition of pedophilia or sexual assault on a child?

This has got to be humiliating for Dear Leader. His endorsement is looking like the Kiss of Death.

As of today he supposedly never endorsed Moore and knew he would lose 🤣

Also Trumps disapproval rating in Alabama at an all time high of 49%

I believe both. Although to be fair the more I look into it. It is fascinating.

Almost all definitions seem to use 13 as the cut off.

So what do you call a 30+ year old that sexual assaults 14+ year olds?  You are still considered a sex offender if you touch a 12 year old as much as you would a 14 year old right?

On top of that why does child porn count people over the age of 13?  Why is a 15 year old a "child" for child porn, but not pedophilia.

The legal definitions are so strange.

I wouldn't call it pedophilia because the victims were not childs, and yes, the legal definitions are strange, the "pedophile" term has been misused so much that somebody in his 20's is called a pedophile because he's attracted by teenagers and end in the same category as somebody who molest childrens (I'm not saying that's the case of Moore)

I've decided to remove this post.  My uncertainty with some things, and clarification in others has made me re-think this post.

Ignore it - thanks.

How can I ignore it when it gives me a shiny blue thing?

Here, have your shiny blue thing back.

The two party system is really at fault for why this sort of thing can happen to begin with. When you neatly divide all issues between two parties, you're basically asking people to either endorse their candidate even if he's a piece of garbage, or vote for every view they don't personally ascribe to.

This "one or the other" system is about as divisive and difficult as could be in place. If there'd been more options than those two people would have jumped off the Roy bandwagon long before.

Still, I'm a little surprised he lost... it was clearly a toss-up, but it must have killed a lot of Alabama voters inside to either abstain or vote for the democratic option.

I think that even if another viable party came, it'd still eventually transition back to the two-party system because of the way voting works and people doing strategic voting.

That's the result of the shitty-ass electoral system. Doesn't have to be that way. In other countries, strategic voting is largely unnecessary.

Bet with PeH:

I win if Arms sells over 700 000 units worldwide by the end of 2017.

Bet with WagnerPaiva:

I win if Emmanuel Macron wins the french presidential election May 7th 2017.

It has a lot to do with it, because it doesn't make sense to oppose it on the basis that it kills people while supporting the killing of people.

Only if you think killing someone on the basis of convenience is equal to a state killing a rapist. I'm still at a lost how anyone would think racism and anti abortion are equal.

I didn't say that racism and anti-abortion are equal, I am hinting that anti-abortion often has sexist tendencies.
