Forums - Gaming Discussion - "The Nintendo Switch Is Selling Exactly As Fast As Sony's PS4" - Forbes

Do you agree with the article?

Yes, Switch will KILL the PS4! 18 12.95%

No, PS4 will remain champion! 74 53.24%

Hard to tell right now, time will only tell. 47 33.81%

Total:139

Nintendo Fans tending to forget that the switch had some huge Nintendo Games already. And even with those games it didnt manage to sell trough 10 millions faster than playstation 4 with almost nothing but 3rd Party games. Mario and Zelda and Splatoon wont come every year with a new Game to help the Switch for sales. The hype is almost over and sales numbers will you show that soon. Then Pokemon will sell a lot of switches, and after pokemon 90% of all Nintendo lovers already own the system and sales will drop big times, with only japan left were the switch will sell decent amount of switches

I love being DRAMATIC, ok??? Sue me!

I love this rivalry shit. And as much as I love that the PS4 is winning it's just that MUCH sweeter if it wins against a worthy opponent. So basically, I kinda like the fact that Sony has a REAL opponent....not like the N64 or Gamecube days.

Fair enough, then.

But for people who don't own the console, those titles will always be there to entice them to buy the console.

Doesn't work exactly like that due to launching in march. Launching in the holidays is like having your birthday at christmas, you'll never get as many presents as you would if they were seperate days. A launch boost and a separate holiday boost is bigger then just a single holiday launch. meaning comparing PS4's Nov13-Oct14 and Switch's March17-Feb18 isn't fine either.

We'll know as soon as one starts dropping behind by a large amount. If Switch consistently falls behind in 2018 to the point that the holidays looping round won't be enough to recover the gap. Then we'll know.

Analogy is flawed tbh as launching in holiday is better because far more people have money to spend during that period as opposed to any other time of the year. You get the launch boost and the holiday boost at once.

Not really. a console in high demand get's very small holiday boost, because launches tend to be supply constrained. ps4 had a million preorders 4 months before launch in north america. it was sold out with 24 hours, same thing for europe. PS4 had way more hype and pent up demand then switch and despite this, switch is actually doing very close to ps4 numbers at launch both launches were supply constrained and didn't meet demand except one launched at the holidays the other didn't

So you don't think Zelda and Mario will do much better than the ~5mil where they are at right now?

Of course they will sell more over the next months and years, and still most of nintendos biggest fans already bought a switch and these games. Nintendo doesnt have such a large base of fans like playstation. This is because ps offers a much bigger games library in every possible way. Nintendos fan base is much smaller, but much more loyal to they're brand of choice or more fanatic. They really buy everything from Nintendo good or bad it doesnt matter. From 20 millions switch sales will go down big big times. With some boosts from Nintendo Games

I want to escape reality like you.

PS4 wins globally more or less every month, no chance.

Exactly, we buy everything regardless of quality.

Thats why Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival, Metroid Prime: Federation Force, Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash, Codename STEAM, Game & Wario and Steel Diver all sold like crazy!!!!!
