Now everyone is laughing about the Wii U while 2 years ago everyone was defending it...
What a mendacious world... lol

Dude, what are you even talking about? People defended the quality of its games and rightfully so but not the sales of the console, the sales were laughable, nobody would say the opposite, your comment doesn't make any sense.

Sales were excellent when compared to the Virtual Boy.

Congratulations Nintendo !

Remember I'm only speaking from my perspective ok?

So Doom is not a bad thing because I have a choice. Doom on Switch does not hold technically speaking compared to Doom on PS4 But that is ok because I can simply choose to play Doom on PS4.

To be clear I'm not saying it's bad on Switch or anything, I'm saying it is not as good. But I have a choice.

Whereas BOTW or Mario Odyssey, well I don't have a choice, I cannot play it on any home system cause it's on the Switch or it's nowhere. And that's what is bad for consumers.

And I am not even talking about the fact those are exclusives, it's not that. the PS4 has its exclusives so the Switch has them too, that's fine. But if Nintendo (as they always did in the past) had BOTH a portable and a dedicated home system I could have played those exclusives on a home system but now I can't cause there is no home system on the Nintendo side and that's not good for consumers. At least for those who care about a dedicated home system. If you prefer portable gaming then you are fine or course.

Pretty much equals to say PS4 success is bad for consumers since they don't offer any option to play Uncharted 4 and Horizon Zero Dawn on the go.

With the difference that while it's really true that you only have a single option to play those games, it's false that you can't play SMO and BOTW both on TV and on the go. You can play those games on TV, only not with the same graphical standards as a PS4.

I see what is your point, but your example is wrong. A big part of my playtime on PS4 is on the go (when it's not VR), in my bed or at my office. The method is not as practical as the Switch, but the option exists and works wonderfully (at least for me where I am).

I play my high-end desktop gaming PC all the time on the go.

Great news for my favorite gaming company. I’ll drink to that.

I am a Nintendo fanatic.

On the other hand, if Nintendo had made a dedicated console and a dedicated handheld, there would be far fewer games for the former as Nintendo's development teams would be split between the two instead of focused on one device, and since there isn't (and never has been) room on the market for three similar systems to flourish, the console would be pretty much a guaranteed flop and as such would suffer from the same miserable software droughts as Wii U.

I don't remember a drought back when the Wii or the Game cube or better yet the Nintendo 64 was on the market and Nintendo had handhelds back then too with their teams split up between both systems.

And 10 years ago 3 home systems were flourishing together, the Wii the PS3 and the Xbox360.

And to completely murder this last argument, just a friendly murder of course The market is now even bigger than it was 10 years ago so whatever the figures of that past gen, the figures can potentially be even bigger now that the video games industry has grown further in size.

Stronger system, need more time to make game for it. Remember E3 2014, when Nintendo focus on Wii U, there are few games for 3ds and in 2015 is vice versa. Wii is only stronger than Xbox a bit and DS is around N64, make game for them is simple. Wii U is HD, 3ds also is stronger than ps2 a bit and more modern than Wii, it takes quite more time to make game for both at the same time

Also to vita since its HH land ;P

Good news for Nintendo, while I still think that the Nintendo Switch isn't an amazing console due to its technical shortcomings and overall inability to play visually demanding games like say battlefield 1, swbf2 or the upcoming RDR2, I still think that this is great news since I get to play at least one more Zelda game in switch's lifetime (hopefully), till then BotW is good enough for me. (not a huge fan of platformers i.e. Mario).

Maybe I'll try Pokemon for the Switch (never tried Pokemon in my life). I wish it had real multiplayer shooters like COD and Battlefield and more western style games but oh well till then it'll remain a Zelda machine. Its multiplayer offerings are really weak for me and the app thing is impractical.

Supposedly with the Switch and Rainway you'll bw able to. ;P
