According to VGC the Switch isn't outpacing the Wii...

Weeks to reach 10 million units:

Switch: 40

Wii: 36

3DS: 42

PS4 39

 

The Switch is doing well, but maybe the investors expected it to be farther ahead of the 3DS? Actually, they probably aren't paying that much attention, maybe they just expected higher numbers overall?

I suppose there's that too. I recall the Gameboy Advance selling really fast out the gate as well. I wouldn't say it's any indication that it will keep the pace of the PS4 or Wii, but we just don't know yet.

Not the best news since this indicates that the Switch is on track to do 3DS numbers for it's first year despite the Switch holding a noticeable lead early on but the performance of the Switch is OK so far ...

Remember that 3DS needed a big price cut in its first year to achieve those numbers.  No such cut needed for Switch.

Insane numbers for the Switch. I just got one a little over a week ago, and just remembered that I should create a first impression thread Hopefully it will pass the GC installbase in a year.
