Forums - Politics Discussion - Israel-Palestine: Which "solution" do you prefer?

So, as we all probably know, there is a very difficult situation in the Middle East right now regarding what to do with Israel and the Palestinian territories. There are a few large proposals that are in place:

- The two-state solution: This is the most talked about one, and it tends to involve separate Jewish and Palestinian states. Now, the exact boundaries are a hot topic, especially Jerusalem,  which is either an independent city, a split city, or an entirely Israeli city.

- The annexation: This one concerns the annexation of Palestinian territories into the Jewish Israeli state. This would mean that a vast number of Arabs would be within the state, so in order to keep the current control I assume that they would be denied full rights

- The multinational state: This talks of a unification of Israel and Palestine into a multinational state, where both citizens are given full rights. This I assume would be done in a federative system

Now, if we're strictly thinking of these three, I would support the latter. The reason being that many Arabs in Israel would probably feel compelled to move into Palestinian territory or Jews in Palestinian territories would feel the same, which evokes the sense of forced relocation or ethnic cleansing of the territories. The annexation is just hugely discriminatory against the Palestinians, so that would not last long with such a huge population that is being mistreated.

Now, none of these are perfect. Each have issues. But I just wanted to hear what you guys thought.

I'd prefer it if we reverted back to the UN 1947 partition ...

What Israel is doing is unlawful occupation of palestinian land and the mandate by the previous administration (UK) should be uphold ...

That or UK should just reclaim the territory temporarily for reasons of stability just like they did when they got a hold of Hong Kong during the opium wars only to later transfer administration to the PRC ...

The two-state one. It’ll give people sovereignty over their nation and, more important, safer. The multinational state will be subject the Jewish population to too many terrorist attacks.

How would that work? Are they going to force the Jews in the occupied lands out?

I prefer a Israeli state because they would allow everyone access to the holy sites without trying to kill them or block access.

If we are to hold precedent then that should be the only way ...

The Jews will probably have to rethink housing and some other things but if they want to maintain things as is then revoking their Israeli citizenship is an option ...

Another option is Palestine agreeing to reparations to pay market value for these lands ...

The one that stops the illegal settlements. All I want honestly as someone who's from there.

Well.. Palastinians we're offered around 80% of what is the current Israel. They said no and started a war. This cycle has been repeated too several times..... Despite worse treatment under the Ottoman Empire pre ww1. Here's a video about it.

They weren't "offered" it, the UN vote didn't even involve Palestine as they weren't part of the UN. Atrocities have been committed by both sides.

They have been fighting for over 2000 years so there is no easy solution.
